Guess the coverart!

#1 Post by Freak666 » 23 Oct 2014 22:02

First of all, let's hope it's not:

-blue/orange
-generic with dragons
-CGI graphic

This beeing said, what do you imagine as cover artwork?
Regarding the fact the album deals with the boy from IFTOS, I imagine a boy who is opening a door which leads to another dimension. Similar to the mirror of IFTOS. The door may will be red, as a working title of the album is "The red door".

Something like this for example:

So, what do you think it could be?

You just described the usual Machado cover
I hope they'll come back to a hand drawn cover, better if connected with the theme of the album (and being being a concept I hope and I'm confident that it will at least have something to do with it).

If they go with that concept, a throwback to Marschall would be so awesome. It would feel like IFTOS all over again, which is what got me into Blind Guardian in the first place. And into metal.
I can't think of anything clever to put here.

Considering the links of the music to IFTOS songs, I am kind of hoping to see some of the IFTOS art back in the new coverart as well...
So yeah.. I don't mind getting dragons in... also because dragons are cool

I find this picture awesome! It'd be fantastic if they used something like that for the album!

yeah but too many might be a bit repetitive. we already got 2 consecutive dragons in the the last albums!

That title would mean that this album is so magnificent that, it may not be beyond imagination (something they did in the past with albums like IFTOS and SFB), but it's at the very edge of it! It's a rather realistic stage of BG's awesomeness!!

Ah I more or less took it that it means "at the end of our imagination, a.k.a. we're running out of innovative ideas". Because it certainly looks like it from the previous releases (I'm not saying they are unoriginal, but it might be coming soon). Let's see what this one will be.

i really would prefer such cover art than a generic Machado one again.
It would be really refreshing

"Tales from Imaginations of the red door" :)

I wonder how much it would cost to license the Ninth Wave for the cover. It looks great.

I'm not sure it is related to the ocean.
I hope it's more like attacking in waves and the ninth is the final one.

The following image would express the mental condition of the little boy in a better way. As he could run away from his father and mother through "the door of imaginations". And it shows that the other world has already took over his real life in his head because of the trees and so on.
So the main atmosphere of this scene would fit pretty well.

It's from the video game "Deadly premonition" besides.

That mock-up is WAY better than the official album art, sad that the band went with the same artist again, his stuff looks so overproduced and seems to overcompensate for a lack of artistic vision through photoshop filters and effects, essentially what George Lucas does in his movies.
