Word on the street is that edguy will be in oz new years!
Just a rumour, but I'm crossing my fingers.
Queensryche will be back in august too. Tickets are $80+ though - too rich for me!

Wouldn't mind seeing 'ryche again. But yeah, seen them 3 times in the past which is more than enough for me.
Arch Enemy + Suffocation in November might be a goer for me though

Got this little wedding thing to pay off first though!!
No further word on that rumoured Edguy gig - still hopeful though.

No way will I be able to make it to Sydney fro Screamfest
Would like to try and make it to Melbourne to catch the EDGUY sideshow, but to be completely honest I have been really disappointed with their last two CDs!!
But, I will definitely be going to see SONATA ARCTICA + ENSIFERUM here in Brissy! The latest cds by both bands are fan-fucking-tastic!!!!
In Blind Guardian related news, I got the collectors edition of the game they feature in, SACRED 2, for my birthday recently. Been playing it heaps. Lots of fun, and having the band in the game is just like the icing on the cake.
Getting married in 10 days time

Anyone going to Deicide on the 5th ?

Fly back after staying out all night after the gig then go to work! Following day, have a sickie then fly to melbourne for the same thing there. Stay out after that gig all night, then fly home & go to work!! Couldnt get the week off but not going to let work get in the way of Vanishing Point, Sonata Arctica & Ensiferum!!!!!!
Oh by the way sarah, i,ll be going to Amon amarth as well. In sydney though. You still in melbourne?

How are you enjoying Australia Sarah? Due to this thread not having a great deal of life anymore, it was only today that I read details of your arrival back in september!!!!!!!! This thread started due to Blind Guardians Australian (well, to be more precise, 2 melbourne shows) Tour in feb 2007 & although a few of us keep it going occasionally, the time factor has seen it fade!!!! Anyway, even if it is 2 months to late, a warm welcome to the land of Oz from all the Aussie Bards!!!!!
If you are still in melbourne on jan 5 then I hope to see you at the billboard for the gig I previously mentioned. Vanishing Point, Sonata Arctica & Ensiferum will blow the roof off!!

Amon amarth were pretty cool... Probably their weakest performance to me so far but still very decent... I never made it to opeth though because of early beer / getting drunk for free / crazy dirty action with kiwi in hallway. Worth it !
Anyway, oz is ozsome so far really. Gloria jean's goood, hungry jacks gooooood, boags draught gooood. Oh, and kiwi guys gooooooooood.
Yay !
Soundwave issold out for melbs though so i might go to the sydney edition with a few friends. Nothing sure yet but i'll see
And NOT going to sonata and co. Sorry.

*EPIC THREAD BUMP*
So, hopefully soon there could be reason for another BG Melbourne Meet Up.
On the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, Hansi and Andre told me that they are coming back to Australia Sept/Oct.
Most likely just Melbourne and Sydney but hey at least its better than just Melbourne last time!

Holy crap Dallas that is a massive thread bump! Remember this thread was up there for such a long time that its good to have it back up where it belongs!! Had a look at the BG tour dates. Given that South American shows have been announced, an Australian tour would surely occur either just before or after!!

I am the king of the thread bump
I would reckon that after the south american tour would be most likely. *hopes*
Got Finntroll coming up in two weeks time - will have the 70,000 Tons of Metal shirt on for that one.
Nothing scheduled for April, then Kyuss and Alestorm in May!!

I went to Soundwave Brisbane - was killer.
Slayer, Murderdolls, Rob Zombie, Dimmu Borgir, Iron Maiden. All fantastic.
Got a few videos on my Youtube if you are interested:
http://www.youtube.com/dallash71
Finntroll gig was incredible too. Got nothing coming up now for a while, then Kyuss followed quickly by Alestorm in May!!
Trying to work out with the wife whether we can do 70,000 Tons of Metal in 2012. With Nightwish, Therion and Kamelot all rumoured to be taking part next time around we would LOVE to be there again!!

Screamfest was such a wicked time, I had a blast. The after party at one of the hotel's consisted of half the band's dancing to an ABBA tribute band - was the most metal thing I'd ever seen...
Hahahaha.
I shall be at both the Sydney and Melbourne BG shows, looking forward to seeing some of you there rocking out!

Holy crap is he still going? Remember buying an album of his back in 2002 off memory! Listened to it for a while but then became disinterested!!
Anyway tickets for both Soundwave Revolution & Blind Guardian in Melbourne have been purchased! Bring it on!!

Hey Stormster yeah...that used to be me....not so skinny anymore !
@cowboys & Stuey
Thanks for the feedback on 70000 tons, but the guys I was planning on going with could only to stay in the States for two weeks including Vegas so in the end it was a bit hard for me to justify the hefty expense for only a two week trip. I will most likely be going to Soundwave Revolution so might get a chance to bump into some of you there !

Very unfortunate about 70000 tons Bard 88

however given that it is now an annual event would suggest to keep saving money so this time next year you,ll be planning for January 2013

Im gonna book flights to melb soon. Seeing as Im a cheap ass i plan to fly down on the day of the gig (sunday the 2nd) and fly back early the next morning. I plan to stay up all night and fly back early in the morning (cheaper flights and i save $100 not getting a room for the night - told you im trying to save money). But i'd love to catch up with some of you - so for those who know melb and whee the billboard venue is organise something!! Stuey, Bard, Anwar?? Just set a time in the arvo and I'll be there. I'm gonna catch both suports tho as they're awesome - the only thing that could make the gig better would be adding vanishing point to the list.

Smart move Stormster! Used to do the same thing often when going down for the footy. If the game was sat nite then i,d stay out afterwards until 4am when the bus would leave for Avalon for the 6am flight home! That flight is usually the cheapest there is. Hope you didnt book with Tiger though!!
Exford Hotel is over the road from the Billboard. Happy to meet up there. Is a decent pub. Open to other suggestions though of course

Have to keep in mind though the NRL grand final will be on in the lead up to the gig.

I wanna watch the NRL grand final so there better be a pub showing it on big screen near the venue. I was planning on going to tullamarine but Ill check out Avalon. The less fucking around the better. Since ill be waiting around all day for BG and watching the footy i dont wanna be tired for the gig, thats why i was thinking tullamarine.
P.S. Been checking out setlists: Is it just me or are a couple of the new songs they're playing shit? To be honest A Voice in the Dark and Wheel of Time have been played live and neither do it for me. Control the Devine or Valkyries kick so much ass. So glad Tanelorn is being played. And i want And Then There Was Silence!!And i havent seen Somewhere Far Beyond either! So many good songs!!

I think after one Sydney show and one melbourne show that will be enough for me. I mean id love to see a third show, but Id have to change my flight, pay for accomodation, and buy another concert ticket. At the moment ill just stay awake all night after the melbourne show listening to BG on my MP3 player. Got a flight at 6am
