and another three medals give Germany the lead in the medal count.
Gold for Sachenbacher/Nystad at women's cross country team-sprint, while the men got silver.
And silver for the men in the team challenge in Ski Jumping.

More to come, hopefully.

Women´s relay will be interesting to watch today, without Magdalena Neuner attending it. Her speed will be missed, I´m certain!

Grand gesture by Neuner though, stepping back to give Martina Beck the chance to win a medal in her (most propably) last olympics.

And we're in a good position now, ranked 2 after 3 of 4 athletes.

Bronze, in the end. Not half bad.

Olympic games are recipe for surprises, that much is certain. But the last pairs of the 10km speedskating had a bizarre surprise. Towerhigh favorite Sven Kramer made a wrong lanechange about 9 laps before the finish. Thus losing his olympic record and olympic gold medal. Gold went to South Korea with Lee, a very much deserved medal, as Lee did skate an olympic record already. Kramer was faster, but disqualified due to his mistake.
I'm almost guessing that this is more shocking for Holland than the fall of the government last weekend.

Just in: the coach was probably cause for the wrong change, having sent Kramer in teh wrong lane.

i'm flabberghasted, this is bizarre

Canadians don't own stages, they politely borrow them.

Indeed, that were some nice races to watch!
And I almost forgot, it is the 100th olympic gold medal (summer and winter combined) for the netherlands!!
where everybody thought it was for Sven, Nicolien Sauerbrij won our 100th olympic gold medal. and our first gold in the snow.

We are? Looks like we have 13 more medals than them. Also, parts of Canada are South of me. ;)

Yeah, but in the end it's the number of gold medals that counts.

Thanks to your comment I now know a little more about American geography. It's just a tiny little bit that's south of you.

13th ain't shabby considering we're a country not big on winter sports

Seems you didn't watch much of the olympics, because Canada finished with the 3rd highest total.. and with how many.. 14 gold medals you say ?? 14... It's a record by the way for any winter olympic games.

Or you only watched speedskating where the dutch men relay got owned by the americans :P and where Canada took the gold in the end.

that's debatable, but if so... thank you ! ;)

Canada owned the gold category, and the USA is one of the few countries to ever get more total medals than Germany in recent winter games. The 2010 games were the games owned by North America. But... our Mexican friends did not help us at all. :P

I believe that the dutch relay team was teh fastest of them all...

And I also believe that teh goal of teh canadian olympic committee was a tad higher, but Canada came back very nicely in teh last week, I'll admit that.

i'm glad dario cologna already had a gold medal - otherwise it would have been even tougher to fall down 150m before the finish of the 50km cross country race...having silver or bronce +/- garanteed

(btw, switzerland was the only team to win a point against either of the two finalist - that means we were actually third best, right? ;) )
