Recommend me melodic death metal with deep vocals
Recommend me melodic death metal with deep vocals
Hello.
One of the reason why I dislike many melodic death metal bands (like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity and whatever) is the midrange screechy vocals. I prefer really deep-pitched growling/grunting vocals. So, without further ado, I am looking for some technical death, melodic death, melodeath or Gothemburg death... with deep-pitched vocals.
Deep vocals combined with other types of vocal are acceptable, as long as the deep ones are used a lot of the time, not just occasionally.
Examples of bands that fit what I am looking for include Augury and Scar Symmetry. (These are not necessarily great bands, but at least they have the kind of vocal style I like.)
So, can anyone recommend me some?
Thanks in advance.

They say that there's a broken light for every heart on Broadway.
They say that life's a game, then they take the board away.
They give you masks and costumes and an outline of the story
Then leave you all to improvise their vicious cabaret...
Still the goddamn Batman.

Let me see... that would include a lot of stuff I like actually and some of those might be quite known
And some of those also include other vocal styles, but just check it out and see if you like it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will give them a listen.
Alas, I have tried to get into Edge of Sanity several times, but I keep hating them.

Try these guys :
Thunderkraft from Ukraine.
They are great if you don´t mind that the structures are quite old-school.
Some songs have very slight folk influences, mostly intros.
They give their whole album to download for free on their website, in watered-down sound quality :

Please remember to buy if you like it...

I think Opeth might be of some interest to you.. IMO Mikael Åkerfeldt is THE best grunter out there and his clean vocals are just as good. Try out the Blackwater Park album which I consider to be their best, especially check out the song "the drapery falls", One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written!

Maybe Die Apokalyptischen Reiter. I wouldn't call them Melodic Death Metal, cause they really do their own thing, but at least up to All You Need is Love or even Have A Nice Trip, they do something melodic death/Black metal-like, with rough deep vocals, deep growls and some higher, black metal-like screams.
The lyrics are partly in English and partly in German btw, even though the name's german.

Well, maybe so, but maybe he haven´t given them a real good listen yet. Their music can be quite hard to get into since the songs are so long and contain so many different passages and vocals which may turn some people off. Therefore I gave him, what I consider to be, a good record to start with and a song which IMO opinion shows what Opeth is all about. He wanted melodic music with a good grunter mixed with other vocals, and if he for some reason haven´t heard Opeth, he definitely should!Stormrider. wrote:I highly doubt he hasn't heard Opeth.mmxz wrote:I think Opeth might be of some interest to you.. If the band themselves have made the file available for public download, one would think redistributing said file would be legal. Scar Symmetry. They're VERY melodic, to the point of occasional poppiness, but as contrast their heavy parts are a lot heavier than the the average Gothenburg band, and while their clean vocals may be a bit cheesy, their growling vocals are the shit.

i guess, you can't label'em "melodic death" but nonetheless i have to once again mention my admiration for brimstone's "carving a crimson career"
it's more or less traditional heavy metal (mostly slow-paced) with unclean&depp vocals
there's just this debut album...never heard anything of brimstone again afterwards...
check out the track "autumn"

I am curious. Are you an actual pagan?Balaak wrote:That's why us Pagans are just so damn cool. Tits, sex and violence are part of worshipping the gods!Spectrum wrote:Now I dare not watch. Kinda like AC/DC goes death metal. Well okay, they're exactly like AC/DC goes death metal.

Where the lazure skies tear the hearts apart
And as leaden ice they remain deep inside your eyes
Where the morning burns starlight ashes to dust
All my songs I´ve thrown to the seven winds

I am not Spectrum, but his question is probably something along the lines of "Is that Balaak guy for real?"Slaya wrote:I am. You charge each other for the time and breath it takes to say 'good morning',
But the truth is slowly dawning -- things are getting out of hand,
We all pursue our shattered dreams along the roads to our own ruin --
Watch our empires sink and wash away like castles made of sand.
And so cast off the lies that are your lives and find the truth within. -- Martin Walkyier
Also, Balrogs have wings.
