Sabaton

I couldn't find an existing thread about them, but with their new album coming up soon and their new song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYWdgBtS ... e=youtu.be
I wondered what do you guys think of them?
At the moment they're certainly one of the most successful bands in power metal. And although some people say their music is too simple I think it has some infectious melodies and is just great to party and sing along. If I'm in a good mood I can always listen to their records, especially The Art of War and Carolus Rex (the Swedish version), which would be my favorites.
So what about you?

While I enjoyed Primo Victoria and Attero Dominatus, starting with The Art Of War, they went downhill and there were less and less songs on each following album that I liked, with Carolus Magnus finally having not a single track that I find even decent. Also, I can't listen to them for all that long, but every now and again, it's pretty enjoyable. It does get boring, when it's that simple. Catchy, though, and a good sense for pathos that astonishingly enough barely ever gets really cheesy.

They give you masks and costumes and an outline of the story
Then leave you all to improvise their vicious cabaret...

Meh, said in these general terms, how much this is true for too many bands nowadays?

True true, but as for Sabaton, my favourite song by them, at least musically (well, maybe because of the Savatage influence), is Cliffs of Gallipoli, which is on The Art of War. Generally, I would say there is too little variation on their albums, though, but this problem was already apparent on Primo Victoria... But they're pretty good at writing metal anthems, there's no denying at that as far as I am concerned.

In all honesty, I really can't see why those guys are one of the biggest (traditional) metal-badns going at the moment. I've rarely heard more boring stuff. Hells, Hammerfall is more inventive and creative than Sabaton...

Sic!
Sabaton is probably the most overrated band of the last few years...

That right there is a logical contradiction, for is not the 21st metal axiom

"c(x) > C(Hammerfall) for all x, x is metal band"

and therefore no band can both be a metal band and be less creative than Hammerfall.

Q.E.D.

As a side note, not every problem can be solved by introducing an appropriate axiom.

I would have said so, too. Then, however, I heard Sabaton.

I like their new album. The new members sure have a positive effect on the tightness of the sound. I expected something worse after the snoozefest that was Carolus Rex.

I cannot sit down and listen to an entire Sabaton album without getting bored. I just picked a couple songs off each album and listen to them and it works!!

Sabaton are an amazing band, I love most of their music. Coat Of Arms will always remain my favourite album, although Heroes (Their latest album) is awesome!
