Hey hey!looking for great Power Metal songs

#1 Post by Bender B. Rodriguez » 13 Nov 2012 22:11

Hi there guys, long time no post...

so,i'm putting some songs on a pendrive for a long drive(very long),and i'm looking for those good 'ol fast paced or mid paced songs with bombastic solos, you know, to make the trip more entertaining

i'm talking stuff that sounds like Black Diamond,Weballergy,Z.I.T.O.,Eagle Fly Free,The dragon lies bleeding,Golden Dawn...well,you get the point.I'm also very fond of more angry vocals(like the dude from grave digger for example)...just keep in mind the songs have to have at least one pretty classicly power metal

Needless to say,Blind Guardian is out of the question,i already have all their cd's (yes original cd's,i finally bought them)

oh and please nothing with witch vocals,i have tons of that too ...
thanks in advance guys

Maybe you should try Iron Savior...?

What I find really entertaing is Dark At Dawn, not exactly, what you've been looking for, but imho great band:

Don't Pay The Ferryman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlMYFw6s9hQ
Baneful Skies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okU0UVqB9gw

Or Running Wild (though I guess you're familiar with them...?)

Black Hand Inn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEFGzrbOQsw

Heavens Gate (more "usual" PM vocals):

Touch the Light: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgMow3OJIZI

Merlin (the ultimate Helloween, Keeper-era-clone)

Crying the Night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 8_Uc9ZTd9k

Can't think of any more at the moment...

I heartily recommend Merging Flare, their album Reverence is one of the better PM albums to come out in a few years imo.
Namely, I mean songs like At Daggers Drawn and Steel Redeemer and In The Line Of Fire.

Other than that... hmm, some Thaurorod maybe?
And The Lord said unto John: 'Come forth and receive eternal life'.
But John came fifth, and won a toaster.

Damnit.

I hope you didn't go on your trip yet, because I'm a stupid dumbass and forgot to mention Pathfinder. They pretty much combine the ridiculous bombast of Rhapsody and the hysterical lightspeed twiddling of Dragonforce into one gloriously cheesy whole, and are generally better/more entertaining than either.
I mean, seriously they are a fucking blast.

Go for the latest Dragonland album, Under the Grey Banner.

Here two of my favourite songs:

and

I'll look for some more.

EDIT: the first album of Herman Frank (Accept guitarist) is really good. I mean, this song has one of the worst (or best) first words ever:

One song of Highland Glory is really good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQrvViwRZlQ
The latest two Nocturnal Rites albums are definitely worth checking.
And the only Primal Fear album I know, Nuclear Fire. THIS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQFtKjTD2tA
Last tip before going to sleep: Stormwarrior. I like their album Heading Northe.

No problem mate, glad I could be of help! That was probably the only worthwhile contribution I've made on this forum in years, too.
