Sigh

#1 Post by MythsOfMetal » 02 Sep 2012 14:58

Anyone here ever heard of a band named Sigh? This thread will be used for discussion on them. They're from Japan, avant-garde Black Metal, and they've made 9 full albums. I was wondering, what everyone thinks of each of their albums, that they've heard. They're my second favourite band, only second to Blind Guardian. Check them out if you haven't. Mainly songs from Imaginary Sonicscape, and In Somniphobia I'd recommend.

I'd rank they're albums I've heard like this:

1.Imaginary Sonicscape
2.In Somniphobia
3.Scenes from Hell
4.Gallows Gallery

So what do people think of Sigh?

Aye, Sigh is such an awesome band. :D

I'd rank their albums as :

Gallows Gallery
In Somniphobia
Imaginary Sonicscape
Infidel Art
Hail Horror Hail
Ghastly Funeral Theatre
Scenario IV : Dread Dreams
Scenes From Hell
Scorn Defeat
Hangman's Hymn
Proudly, without God, I conquer!

I thought many Sigh fans disliked Gallows Gallery, or at least thought lowly of it. The production on the remastered version is pretty good though. I haven't listened to it in a while, but I liked most of what I heard the first time I listened to the album, except the vocals. Still it's good to see Imaginary Sonicscape and In Somniphobia high on the list :)

One thing that bothers me is I can't find any of their albums, except Imaginary Sonicscape, Gallows Gallery, Scenes from Hell, and In Somniphobia on CD in my area, which's the area where the largest city in my country is. I really want to get their first four albums and Hangman's Hymn. Though I don't expect Ghastly Funeral Theater to be re-released in my area, so I don't hope for acquiring that EP. On amazon most of their albums I don't have are sold at crazy prices, and not directly from amazon.

I thought this thread would have been about something the OP was exasperated about.

Saw Sigh in '09 at the Maryland Deathfest, pretty good set. They played Countess Bathory and Black Metal!

Here's my current ranking of their albums.

1.Imaginary Sonicscape

4.Infidel Art
5.Scenes from Hell
6.Gallows Gallery

I also can't wait for their new album titled Graveward, that's supposed to come out later this year.

I personally like their cover of Evil Dead originally by the band Death. I haven't heard any of their covers of Venom songs, but I guess I should check those out sometime.

Edit, 9th May 2014: a demo version of a new Sigh song was uploaded to youtube, which will be one of the tracks on their upcoming album Graveward. The new song's called "Out of the Grave."
