Children of Bodom - Was it Worth it (Song Premiere)

#1 Post by Mackasfour » 04 Jan 2011 13:39

Now I know we have quite a lot of people here who dislike CoB since their latest albums but I figured this was worth posting. And imo, it's not that great, it had some damn good potential. Catchy melody that was awesome, but the song got let down with the unusual voice effects and weak sauce solo.

Enjoy, and try keep the flaming to a minimum :P

Edit - Oh and for anyone that does care, the album is set to be released 8th of March :)

OK I don't think I ever heard them (or maybe the Britney Spears cover), but since I'm a trendy guy:

CoB sucks!

Well, I've mostly gotten over my CoB-hating days. I still don't really listen to them, but I respect their track record and admit they have some pretty sweet parts in some songs. Alexi Laiho is still bloody irritating though, no matter how good a guitar player he's supposed to be. I wish they had a better singer.

EDIT: Oh yeah, this particular song was, to rip off a joke someone made in the video comments, actually not worth it. Boring and forgettable.

Another example of a band to "Pull an Inflames on us."

They were good when they first started but then they got this bright idea that they are actual musicians meant to do other things besides what they were good at....singing about the Bodom something, making referenes to horror movies, being cheesy and good... oh well, I guess Hot Topic needed a new coverband. The skaterboarding kids should love them and we metalheads will happily hand them over.

Didn't this already happen in what? 2004?

I think I'm like the only one who likes their album Are you Dead Yet from this forum lol. I will agree that Blooddrunk was a steaming pile of crap. But I rate Are you Dead Yet in their top 3...

I used to listen to em pretty regularly, liked everything except "Follow the Reaper", don't kill me, I just think while it had the most power metal elements, it lacked the bite that other albums had. I'm pretty sure if I listened today I'd like it more though.

They used to be such a good melodic metal band... I think COB really went downhill after Follow The Reaper.

Never listened to them before, funny that the first song of theirs that I listen to is an Iron Maiden song!

Are they Big Lebowski fans by any chance, and what is with all the Bodom related song titles about? I think they took it too far!

They're referring to the Bodominjärvi, a lake in Finland on which's shore a couple of kids were murdered some years ago.

I get that, but they have also covered a few songs from the Big Lebowski, seems a big coincidence so I think they must like the film.

Are you serious? I hated Are You Dead Yet, but I thought Blooddrunk was at least an improvement. Something Wild or Hatebreeder is their best, by far.

Dead serious ;) (geddit?) I just enjoy Alexi's playing. And the heavy riffs and technicality in that album I enjoy. I guess each to their own

As far as I remember, the COB members (possibly joking) said in an interview early in their career that were the murderer(s) ever found out they'd have to change their name. So imagine their feelings in 2004 when the sole survivor Nils Gustafsson was being questioned by the police.

Well, when listening to this song, it´s an easy reminder of why I liked them many years ago. The combination of melody and agression is still intact. But the songwriting went downhill and through the bottom when it hit ground .... Fun though to hear COB again after so much time, kinda nostalgic even :)

edit : np Children of Bodom - Lake Bodom

Yeah, that´s the stuff I loved. When EVERYTHING instead of every second sentence Laiho screamed sounded like YOWYOW !

The red, green and blue albums are classics. After that it was all meh to me. But I gues I'll give their latest album a chance.

Another track "Ugly". Beats the snot out of Was it Worth it but still very lacking. I hope the album is better than these 2 songs have shown.

Well, 2 more songs were released and I have to say that one has surprised me, I actually love it. Reminds me so much of older CoB. if anyone is interested this song is Not My Funeral, the other, Cry of the Nihilist, not as good but still if people are interested...

Ahh the feel of an empty thread..... Well the album is out if anyone wants to check it out. I personally like it but majority of you guys will be all, "anything besides HB, FTR or HCDR sucked". But I think this was pretty awesome and definitely worth checking out.
