Anyone heard the new album?

What do you think of the new singer?

No, they are more like Hard Rock/Grunge. They came out before nu-metal.

I've always considered Alice in Chains to be a Metal band. Listening to their riffs and moods, there's no way you can lump them with the likes of Pear Jam or STP. Maybe with Nirvana (Bleach only) or early Soundgarden (early SG were Metal).

Kick ass band! I was skeptical at first about their comeback with a new singer, but as it turned out, it's a fucking great album and the new guy (Duvall?) does a great job and he's quite worthy of replacing Staley. A fucking pleasant surprise for sure!

Couldn't agree more man.

The riffs of We Die Young, Man in the Box or even Love hate Love are as metal as it gets. In fact I look at grunge more as style of life than actually a music style. The sound of the biggest four bands (AiC, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden) have nothing alike. Maybe lyrically they can be put together, but musically they're all very different imo.

Didn't heard the new album, but from the songs I've heard so far it seems that Jerry's voice takes the lead in most of the harmonies opposed to what happened with Layne. Anyway I think the songs are awsome, like Borbak said, it turned out betten than the expected.

Yes, Yes you guys are right they are a metal band.

The new album is really good! Actually it's better than the last AIC album that came out (seems like) Eons ago. I'm really digging the new guy. Yes Jerry does most of the vocals on the new stuff. However live when they play the old stuff the new guy is truly worthy of filling Layne's shoes.

The new single I've been hearing on the radio the last couple months sounds just like it came out in the 90's. It's very clear who was writing the material back then.
