The Sins of Thy Beloved

#1 Post by jophelerks » 25 Aug 2009 01:43

Anybody ever give a listen to the Sins of Thy Beloved? They're the fucking best band I've found maybe since Blind Guardian. Scratch that, since Demons and Wizards, but still...
If you're into the whole symphonic goth-doom underground thing, Sins are fucking amazing. And being the borderline emo teen I am...can't get enough of this stuff.

Is that sticky sweet goth metal stuff underground these days? Damn, I'm getting old. It was the trend to hate back in my days.
Wasn't The Sins Of They Beloved one of those Napalm Records naked boobies bands?

They say that there's a broken light for every heart on Broadway.
They say that life's a game, then they take the board away.
They give you masks and costumes and an outline of the story
Then leave you all to improvise their vicious cabaret...

Still the goddamn Batman.

Yap, just like Tristania, Theater of Tragedy, and other Norweigien bands, but back in 1998, that genre was kinda underground, I guess, and those bands were much more rare then nowdays.

Anyway, they're definatly not emo, their Lake of Sorrow album has some of the most beautiful atmosphere I have ever
Just listen to the beggining of this:

Pity their second (last) album was crappy imo.

Back in 1998 was precisely what I meant, when I said "Back in my days". They were anything but underground. They were right in the middle of the most saccharine trend ever in metal.

Okay, I'll concede this to you, since I wasn't up on metal back then and you were. I only referred to them as underground because that's what it seemed like they were from the videos I saw of them.
