We had a few threads on punk/folk rock before, but they seem to have disappeared. So, here's a new one. What are your favourite bands in the genre? Any unknown bands to recommend?
I'll list some of those I know, beginning with those I know fairly well or better.
The Pogues:
http://www.pogues.com/
Every year they tour in the UK and Ireland, but in August they'll have a gig in Drammen, Norway. Needless to say, I'll be there. The Pogues in Norway, and even with Shane, is not something I expected to happen.
Flogging Molly:

http://www.myspace.com/floggingmolly
One of my favourite bands. Great on albums, great live. One of the better known bands in the genre, with good reason.
The Tossers:

Dropkick Murphys:
http://www.dropkickmurphys.com/
http://www.myspace.com/dropkickmurphys
Generally a bit more punk and a bit less folky than the other bands mentioned so far.
The Real McKenzies:

Other bands I don't know that well, but which sounds interesting to me.
Kevin Flynn and the Avondale Ramblers:

Street Dogs:

Okay, I know them quite well, have three albums and have seen them live, just forgot to mention them in the other post.
Time Again:
http://www.myspace.com/timeagain
Not really folk, but quite decent punk, closer to street punk.
The Briggs:
http://www.myspace.com/thebriggs
Not much folk, but still decent punk rock.

Oh yeah, Fiddler's Green. Actually I did check them out a while ago. Don't know them that well, though. Listening through the songs on their myspace page now, though. Decent stuff, thanks for reminding me of them
Edit: Has to be said, though, that their version of "Bugger off" isn't nearly as good as the Real McKenzies's version. Still not bad, though (the Real McKenzies's version is fecking ace

Re: Punk/folk rock
All awesome, but The Tossers are real spotty when it comes to releasing good albums. Some are good, others bad. No one beaths The Pogues.Fenris wrote:We had a few threads on punk/folk rock before, but they seem to have disappeared. So, here's a new one. What are your favourite bands in the genre? Also kinda have to add Glittertind here since the first two albums mixed folk, punk and metal.
