Day 2: Isolation and Day 16: Loser off of Ayreon's The Human Equation. Such amazing songs. I hope I haven't already mentioned them.

And also by Ayreon Amazing Flight :P
Well, let´s say the whole Ayreon project...

Same reaction, absolute masterpiece of an album as well! The second album "The Maze" is even better in some aspects, much darker and heavier. Galexia is currently working on the Third Album and the sound samples sound amazing. If your a fan you should def. follow up with The Maze and hear what he's doing in studio right now... great stuff.

Glad I found another Galexia Fan, this band should be MUCH larger on the prog metal scale in terms of fanbase

"In Shining Armour" by Puissance had a huge impact on me. Yes, it blew me away with its total epicness!
Where the lazure skies tear the hearts apart
And as leaden ice they remain deep inside your eyes
Where the morning burns starlight ashes to dust
All my songs I´ve thrown to the seven winds

Really all of NiME, which was basically the first metal I'd ever heard other than what gets played on the radio in the US. Still my favorite album of all time. Also:

Nightwish- Stargazers (I ended up not being a huge fan of Nightwish, but along with NiME this was my earliest introduction to 'true' metal)
Disillusion- Fall
3- The Word is Born of Flame and the End is Begun
Bear McCreary- Prelude to War (from the 2000s Battlestar Galactica soundtrack, not sure if this really counts, but the music was such a big part of season 2 episode 10 absolutely blowing me away)
Hector Berlioz- Symphonie Fantastique, fifth movement
Coheed & Cambria- Welcome Home
JT Bruce- The Dreamer's Overture
The Flower Kings- the entire album The Sum of No Evil, which still blows me away with every listen
Pain of Salvation- Foreword!
Saurom- El Arquero del Rey
Dio- Holy Diver
Sieges Even- The Weight
System of A Down- Toxicity
Yoko Kanno- Shiro (another soundtrack example, this one from Wolf's Rain, and as with the previous one part of its emotional power comes from the scene it accompanies, but it's a beautiful piece on it's own)
Lost Reverie- Us (by our very own Livare)
Frank Zappa- Peaches En Regalia
Primordial- The Golden Spiral

I wish I could add ATTWS to this list, as it is my favorite single piece of music ever written in any genre, but it wasn't until I saw the more stripped-down live version on the DVD that it really clicked.
Though the towers of the city are denied to we men of clay
still we know we shall scale the heights some day.
Frightened in the silence -
frightened, but thinking very hard,
let us make computations of the stars.

Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast was my first real introduction into metal, then I found Nightwish around the time of the switch to Annette (back when the Amaranth video was released), and I became fixed on them for a while, more so the Tarja Era. After that it was a mixed bag of music I found, but some of the songs that stick out are....

Nightwish- Ghost Love Score: Loved the epic LOTR feel to it
Nightwish- Amaranth: Like I said, first got me into Nightwish, and its so addicting.
Nightwish- Planet Hell: Probably my most listened to song by the band

Blind Guardian- Mirror Mirror: First song I heard by the band, and it just sounded so different....and amazing
Blind Guardian- The Edge: I don't know why but this song has stuck with me so much....
Blind Guardian- Punishment Divine: For obvious reasons.....

Symphony X- Set the World on Fire: Probably the most played song on my Ipod
Symphony X- The Odyssey: Most Epic song, period.
Symphony X- Revelation: Most of the song is so heavy, but the angelic singing at the end......beautiful......... gives you chills

Star One- Eye of Ra
Ayreon- Age of Shadow/We are Forever: I bought 01011001 on impulse, and Im glad I did.
Ayreon- The Sixth Extinction
Ayreon- The New Migrator- Powerful is the only word to describe it
Ayreon- Isis and Osiris- Beautiful vocals throughout

Guilt Machine- Twisted Coil
Bow down in the platinum maze
Twilight cathedrals spread the system plague
Forging sacred thrones in the void unseen
Merciless judgement in the church of the machine

"All Along the Watchtower" - Hendrix version and the original "The Wizard" by Uriah Heep pretty much knocked me out of my seat some years ago aswell.

One that blew me away with it's sheer awfulness was "King of the Hill" by Quiet Riot. A truly wretched band outside of their 2 hits. Song was so bad I was laughing. That's never happened before. Except with Spinal Tap.

I agree with the post about "Galexia - Rose of Thorns" along with "Galexia - Recidivate" to those who don't know rose of thorns has arjen lucasseb of AYREON on lead vocals while recidivate has Damian Wilson of THRESHOLD. STAR ONE AYREON etc. Interesting fact! The remastered version of the Galexia debut with arjen, Damian, Marlo eskola of Farmakon etc had been re-released on amazon this week with a bonus track that is the title track of the up coming third Galexia album called "Narcotize". Apperantly all the purchases of the original 8 track CD on iTunes never got back to galexia, over 30K$$ they're filing out a lawsuit against the distribution company, in the meantime galexia re-released the debut with 9 tracks. For those of you who want to be blown away by the next big artist in progressive/Experimental metal go buy the debut on Amazon now! Or if you use Itunes make sure you buy the 9 track version labled excplicit, or else Galexia gets no money, I felt so bad for Kenneth of galexia that I bought the remastered album 5 times to show my support of good music, according to the galexia blog he gets 80% in this new deal instead of 0% LOL!! Also new news is that Michael Vescera singer on a few Ynqwie Malmsteen albums
will be guest singing on the third Galexia album but "90% of the vocals will be sung by Kenneth" according to Kerrang. Poor guy.. That's a lot of money to not get paid especially since the debut was a 12K$ investment for the one man band... Let's help
him break even. He wants to blow our minds with the new CD and I have faith after an A effort on his second CD (the debut being an A+ just because of the star line up, the second album was all Ken singing which on sometracks he wasn't at his best vocal
ability for the type of music). But the bonus track is showing that the new CD should be quite an epic, I read an interview stating its the only song with autotune and he uses it very minimally for atmosphere, and it works. I listened to the preview of clips from the third CD and some tracks sound like meshuggah meets porcupine tree while others like nine inch nails meets riverside.. Should be a good one! Glad I found a fellow galexia addict, I saw them in concert twice for the debut tour and the maze tour in Europe, I have both albums autohraphhed and a poster autographed!

Stormwarrior - Iron Gods must be added now.

Very, VERY impressive power metal band. Actually enjoyable. Shame bands such as this never get spotlighted.

There are a lot of good and awesome songs, but there is only one song that absolutely blew me away. It is Sólstafir's Ritual of Fire. I went to a concert without knowing something from the bands playing, but with some guys with a similar taste in music. I liked the Sólstafir show in a "yeah, nice band, good music" way and then they played Ritual of Fire. And then i was blown away. All this emotions, and then this awesome bass that draws you into the music! <3 Fan since then and blown away at the first hearing for the only time.
YEE-HAW MOTHERFUCKER!

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which
I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
it’s a very very...

...Mad world

Iced Earth - The Clouding
Interesting, to me that was definitely one of the "growers". The "Never trust..."-part ist great, in both versions. :D

Btw.: Now that Avantasia has been mentioned quite often, I have to add "Black Wings" and "Stargazers" from their 2010 stuff. :D
