I hate to admit this but one album I never bought when it was released was At The Edge Of Time, but I did see them on the tour and bought a long sleeve shirt at the show. I just ordered it a couple days ago to complete the collection once and for all, having every other album besides that one was getting to me.

That CD's included in the most recent issue of the German Legacy mag. Split between Amorphis and CoB, with one song of the latest album, one live track and one cover version of the other band each.

Had to buy the mag because it contains the very first print-review of my band's EP 8)

I really enjoy it! Needs some more time I guess but it's surely fun to listen to. Now I'm taking kind of a break and then headlong into the pages again...

Yeah found it and bought it! I like the idea. The COB cover song by Amorphis sounds good, but Black Winter day by COB is something i can't get used to it ;)

Wow, congrats! Name of your band?

@Dragonfly
Symphony X did disappoint me. And your opinion

Book of Souls: needs some spins, a bit too much of everything if you ask me, could be shortened.

Sorry for a late reply...
I really like "Underworld", it feels way more diverse than "Iconoclast" in my opinion (and I still enjoy that album). The lyrics and some song titles may seem a bit unoriginal, but, luckily, the music makes up for that (and then some). Like, I usually don't care for those typical 1,5 minute power metal album intros but "Overture" sets the mood masterfully. "Nevermore" sounds way better in the context of the whole album, a ripping track. The title song is one of my favourites - extreme heaviness mixed with trademark melodies and solos, and Russell... destroys everything with the vocals (as he usually does). "Kiss Of Fire" is another furious mishmash of styles and I welcome the addition of blastbeats here. "To Hell And Back" is epic and accessible at the same time, a gripping, entertaining, catchy and adventurous song, make sure you don't miss this one. And "Swan Song" lacerates my heart like no other song does right now... it's one of those moments when you think that a great band just wrote a song about yourself, and you feel you can relate to each and every line. The storm reaches its climax in the last minute where everyone just shreds like there's no tomorrow and Russell sings his heart out. They make you FEEL the realization of loss of that particular person whom you'd go to hell for. "Some rise by sin - and some, by virtue, fall".
The remaining songs are not that good but still enjoyable. Give it more spins... it can be a grower!

Ok thanks for the detailed opinion. I'll give it a try at do some more spins. I did really like the samples and their first track released. But when i had the whole album i had just a medicore feeling about it after two spins.
I do like Russel's voice, i had some listenings to his side project with Jorn.

Counting from my previous post will take a bit too much time for my taste... so here are my aquirements of the year twenty-sixteen.

Avantasia - Ghostlights
Divinefire - Glory Thy Name
Elvenking - The Pagan Manifesto
Enzo and the Glory Ensemble - In the Name of the Father
Final Chapter - Legions of the Sun
Hammerfall - (r)Evolution
Seventh Avenue - Between the Worlds

Yes, I've been taking it easy. Easier than my first months in Germany :P

Haven't bought many albums this year. Went to see Guns N' Roses so I did get Use Your Illusion I, and the new Motorhead which is obviously wicked! Saw Exciter back in March in Montreal, original Exciter and picked up Long Live The Loud and Violence & Force! Already had Heavy Metal Maniac. 8)

Bought the Demons & Wizards debut! I know what I'm listening to in my car for the next month...

This is my first exposure to D&W after loving Blind Guardian for many years. Anything with Hansi must be great, right?

Gotta have those! Great albums, haven't listened to in a long time.

Just bought a couple Christmas albums by Slack Key master Jim "Kimo" West. If you like relaxing guitar medleys that will blow your mind, check this guy's stuff out! He is also the guitar player for "Weird Al" Yankovic, amazing band.

Just finally ordered his Christmas albums: Ki Ho'alu Christmastime and Slack Key Christmas, looking forward to checking them out tomorrow, but I recommend his albums Coconut Hat, Slack Key West and Guitar Stories. Or anything you can find.

Not CDs, but I bought these albums on iTunes recently.

Mut by Code, The Spectral Sorrows by Edge of Sanity, Below the Lights by Enslaved, Lucifer Es by Fjoergyn, Monument Ende by Fjoergyn, The Fourth Dimension by Hypocrisy, Nattvasen by Manegarm, I by Nightingale, and Meta by Thy Catafalque.

I also bought these other tracks on iTunes. Sigh's original version of "Bring Back the Dead" which has the lead guitar intact, and Stormlord's "Neon Karma," "Legacy of the Snake," and "And the Wind Shall Scream My Name."
