How about stopping the spammers? That'd be great! I was reporting the posts all the time before and even posted a way of preventing a large percentage of them but it was duly ignored and then a spambot had the temerity to post in the thread! I would report them if something was attempted to stop them registering in the first place but whoever is accepting or denying new accounts must be clicking "yes to all"!

Just don't allow them to become members, then they cannot post! These spammers do the rounds and their IP and usernames are logged, it takes a matter of seconds to check them and then deny them.

Finally did the long-due restructuring! I also took the freedom to change some of the forum names... if a lot of people object to them for some reason, I might consider reverting one or all of the changes.

Also, allow me to introduce the advent of a new moderator, Led Guardian!

And so cast off the lies that are your lives and find the truth within.

Nice work there! I really like the new structure. The only thing I find a little bit irritating is the name "The Bard's Song" for the former 'Metal' and 'Other Music' sections. It's a little bit confusing using BG's most famous song-title for a section, in which you talk about every other band but Blind Guardian.

How about Fiddler on the Green, then? :D (Although that might confuse people too, making them think it's the new D&W section)

If the title really needs to be related to BG's discography, I'd say "Battlefield".

Also, shouldn't the "Xbox360/PS3"-thread be moved to the "Otherland"-section?

Some sections offer more choices of song titles, and other none...

I'd say however to take into consideration The Minstrel(s), either as a replacement for The Piper's Calling (which still works fine, btw) or for the other music section... which could also get Imaginations from the Other Side...

However, if we all go BG-titles, how about re-structuring the Coffe Shop into the Bards' Tavern, like the writing from the LIVE album says? :D

Skalds and Shadows would also work well. As for me, I'm also fine with The Piper's Calling.

The Bard's Tavern is already the official name of the #tavern IRC channel. ;) So I guess that ones's taken already.

That's a cool idea indeed!
You charge each other for the time and breath it takes to say 'good morning',
But the truth is slowly dawning -- things are getting out of hand,
We all pursue our shattered dreams along the roads to our own ruin --
Watch our empires sink and wash away like castles made of sand.
And so cast off the lies that are your lives and find the truth within.

Joost wrote:Finally did the long-due restructuring! I also took the freedom to change some of the forum names... if a lot of people object to them for some reason, I might consider reverting one or all of the changes.
First of all, good job, and thank you for not pruning all of our spam. :P

On the new names, it took me some time to figure out what is what. I prefer a boring and generic description myself, and having names that don't immediately make it clear what's inside of them could make it more difficult for newcomers. It does have a learning-curve that one is able to overcome in a couple of days, so I'll leave this one open for debate.
Also, allow me to introduce the advent of a new moderator, Led Guardian!
Led Guardian ftw! The spambots won't stand a chance.
Also, shouldn't the "Xbox360/PS3"-thread be moved to the "Otherland"-section?
Given the description I would say yes, it does fit in more nicely with books and art, more so than with serious discussions about every day life. In fact, I propose to add the word 'videogames' to the description in the index (instead of games), just to avoid any confusion. There's some other stuff in the coffeeshop too (David Hasselhoff, Borderlands, Hercules which could me moved too).

And yeah, in the frenzy for the names for the sections, I forgot to say it as well: Congratulations to Joost and everyone else involved in the redesigning of the forum, and welcome on board to Led Guardian, now I'm not the only fiddler on the GREEN anymore :P as practice, I'd suggest we let him take care of banning all the spambots and deleting their posts one by one  :P

I'm not too sure about the merging of Metal and Other Music sections.

As for the names...meh :|

But it's nice that there's fewer subsections.

You know, I think I look rather good in green.
