Turkish help needed. Translation

#1 Post by t.a.j. » 10 Jun 2010 08:44

IIRC, at least Belgarion among the regulars was turkish. Not sure if he's still around, though.
Point is, on Mezarkabul's (then still The Pentagram to the whole world) album "Anatolia" there are two very nice songs with turkish lyrics and I would love to finally know what they are about.

So here are the lyrics:
Gunduz Gece Songtext :

Uzun ince bir yoldayým
Gidiyorum gündüz gece
Bilmiyorum ne haldeyim
Gidiyorum gündüz gece

Dünyaya geldiðim anda
Yürüdüm ayný zamanda
Ýki kapýlý bir handa
Gidiyorum gündüz gece
Sonsuz Songtext :
Sanýrsýn, daðlarda yol olmaz
Usanýrsýn, kalbinde güç kalmaz
Uzanýrsýn, uyursun, yarýn olmaz

Zor günlerin ardýnda huzur olmaz ki
Her zaman umutlar yon bulmaz
Yarýn olsa da, beklenen gün olmaz

Sözlerim gerçektir, yüreðim kardeþtir
Her zaman
Umudum sonsuzdur, uðraþým bitmez
Hiçbir zaman

Geliyor geçiyor hayat, dönüyor durmuyor dünya
Geliyor geçiyor zaman, dönüyor durmuyor dünya

Sanýrsýn yalnýzlýk tek dostun
Aldanýrsýn, kaçmakla bitmiyor
Hiçbir zaman, Yalnýzlýðýn

Sözlerim gerçektir, yüreðim kardeþtir her zaman
Umudum sonsuzdur, uðraþým bitmez hiçbir zaman

Geliyor, geçiyor hayat, dönüyor durmuyor dünya
Geliyor geçiyor zaman, dönüyor durmuyor dünya
I have infered that Sonsuz probably means something like "infinity".

They say that there's a broken light for every heart on Broadway.
They say that life's a game, then they take the board away.
They give you masks and costumes and an outline of the story
Then leave you all to improvise their vicious cabaret...

Still the goddamn Batman.

It's nice that you like them, I would also recommend you their last album "Bir" (2002), it's very good. Here is the translation:

Gündüz Gece (Day and Night):

It's actually an anonyme folk song.

I'm on a long narrow path
I'm wandering day and night
I don't know in which state I'm in
I'm wandering day and night

The moment I was born to this world
Was the moment I also walked
Through a two doors inn
I'm wandering day and night

Sonsuz (Infinity)

You would think there is no path on the mountains
You would become weary, no strength left in your heart
You would lie down, sleep, there won't be a tomorrow

There is no serenity after tough days
Hopes don't find a way through every time
Tomorrow may come, but it may not be the day awaited

My words are true, my heart a brother
Always
My hope is infinite, my struggle won't end
Never

Life comes and goes, the world spins on non stop
Life comes and goes, the world spins on non stop

You would think loneliness is your only friend
You would be mistaken, escaping won't end
Your loneliness, never

My words are true, my heart a brother
Always
My hope is infinite, my struggle won't end
Never

Life comes and goes, the world spins on non stop
Life comes and goes, the world spins on non stop
In this world there are two tragedies, one is not getting what one wants and the other is getting it. Oscar Wilde

God gave men a brain and a penis and only enough blood to work one at a time.

I realize, I've never thank you for translating these wonderful words for me. So, thank you.
