Any good tv-series at the moment?

#1 Post by The Rider Of Rohan » 27 Feb 2010 15:39

Like the title says... does anybody has any good recent tv-series to recommend?

Personally I love today's syndicated shows from the USA. Lately I have seen a lot of series that put some cinema-releases to shame and with the added depth created by characterisation spread out over multiple episodes.

My personal faves at the moment...

- Day Of The Triffids
- Legend of the Seeker
- The Sarah Conner Chronicles
- The clone wars

Almost. They made a remake of it. The pilot episode was amazing.

Btw, I just saw they made a mini-series out of The Color Of Magic, the first (and my second-favorite) Discworld-book.

Ohh. If this is half as great as Hoggfather I'll surely have a great evening.

After seeing the first disc I wholeheartedly agree: it's not ju8st better than Hoggfather, it's better than a whole lot of movies I saw lately. The production-values are amazing and the acting is great - even during the most horrible of dialogue in Ank-Mopork's inn.

It has been said in the past that this book is impossible to turn into a movie, but they managed to do the impossible.

Battlestar Galactica
Rome
The Tudors
Deadwood
(some of the best series ever made)

Right now I'm watching In Treatment and 24.
So, supposed a robot wants to kill all the humans that makes him "a radical".
- Bender

I've been watching Dexter lately, though, I'm not addicted of 4th season as I was on previous 3, but I just started. :D

Boston Legal is fun as well.

Californication.

And of course, some Anime, but that's different thing I guess. :)

And thanks for mentioning The Color of Magic, I was thinking of watching it for quite some time, but I left it at thinking. :) Now I'm gonna make myself to really do it.

The Big Bang Theory

and not to forget Stargate SG1

I find it kind of sad

Californication is an awesome series, but the last season wasn't nearly as good. David Duchovny went into rehab for sex addiction and after he got out the show took a whole new, less interesting direction. It's still good, just not as good as when Hank was a complete man-whore.

I really like How I met you Mother and Californication. And one series I couldn't live without... the bad haircuts, the bad acting, the horrible dialogues: MacGyver!!

Right now I'm rewatching some teenager moments though: Dawson's Creek! :D

skyclad got it right: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is pretty great!

Although it's not currently on the air, if you haven't checked out The League of Gentlemen, you should most definitely do so. You have not lived until you have seen that show!
