dragonball: evolution

#1 Post by faery » 04 Apr 2009 10:24

I do clearly remember having a topic about this movie, but the search-function could not find it :?

Well, anyway, the movie will be in the theatres in the Netherlands next week and I just watched the trailer. It looks completely ridiculous. Really.

I'll try and get Tex to go with me next week, because I have that's my duty to my adolescent self (DBZ addict speaking here), but I'm afraid I'll be greatly disappointed.

Anyone else seen it already?

Almost went in Hong Kong, but it was too expensive... I might get it loaded on my ipod somewhere here though...

But i want to see it, for the same reasons as you :)

[enter rant mode]

it's an addaption of the DB King Picollo saga. So no dbz stuff, but still it's altered way beyond. I can imagine making Roshi not a pervert (shame), but no Krillin? How the FUCK can you justify that? Grandpa Gohan still alive and Goku 18? shiiiiiiiiiiiiit. The cos play artist could have done a better job. I also heard that Goku's character is killed. He is too serious and wants (according to the trailer) "fit in".... what the fuck?! Goku should be "wtf you mean fit in? what the hell is that?" Im just gonna watch it, point at it and laugh!

[/end rant mode]

though I believe James Matters or Masters i dunno what the hell that dude is called, anyway the dude who plays Picollo is a good cast.

Sadly I think this attempt at bringing the Dragonball Franchise to the big screen is a very poor attempt, no wonder everyone's views on this movie are mostly negative.

Having never watched DB, I found the trailer kind of ok. Looks like it might be entertaining effects and all.

They say that there's a broken light for every heart on Broadway.
They say that life's a game, then they take the board away.
They give you masks and costumes and an outline of the story
Then leave you all to improvise their vicious cabaret...

Still the goddamn Batman.

Yeah, it was me who first opened a thread about this months ago, and I was really excited about the movie. Though, I saw the trailers now and I'm starting to feel sad. :(

I watched all DB and DBZ and this is just fucked up. Why isn't Bulma blue-haired?? Come on! Hollywood couldn't make it?? Fuck.

Gonna watch it anyway.

I'm a big fan and I must see it so I can tell why is it good or bad.
You're going to hell. But not the cool one, that's where I'll go.
You go to the crappy hell.

The show and everything to do with it should be called Dragonblah Z.

 or Last Action Hero 2
Psh, action? There was no action in DBZ. It was all discussion about power and how one person would kill another. Oh, and screaming.

Anime like DBZ makes my brain hurt.

Now if they were to make a live-action movie of Cowboy Bebop or Hellsing, now THAT I would watch.

Oh, I saw the DBZ movie trailer in a cinema a while back. The whole damn audience mosly snickered at it. I didn't, I was too busy bleaching my brain.

Watched the movie yesterday...
Considering what I expected it wasn't thad bad, however I still had the feeling that I was watching a very good power ranger movie...
Besides that, there are some minor details in the story that aren't right and ofcourse some of the characters aren't good (bulma without blue hair and piccolo without the antennas)...
Overall conclusion would be that it could have been lots and lots better...

Btw, the next movie will be with Vegeta and Frieza and the movie after that will be about the Cell saga, I heard

Oh god...I nearly died after seeing the trailer. That's so ridiculous

I have to admit that I didn't liked DBZ that much after the Freezer Saga. And I didn't even watched GT.
For me the best Dragonball series was the first one. It was so funny...

But well, you just can't expect that much of a movie based on an anime series.

I also wouldn't watch a Naruto movie although I just love the anime.

After watching the trailer, I was sure it was a Uwe Boll movie. Apparently it isn't!!

Ever watched the Death Note anime and 2 movies? those are great!

Also, Lady Snowblood, which is based on a manga is very good

I guess the trick is to keep it Japanese and not trying to make it American 8)
