Shepherd: Stay Safe...and Die

#1 Post by Shepherd » 07 Jan 2011 17:57

I just finished the demo version of a new song for my project Shepherd. I hoping you guys could take a listen and let me know what you think. :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6rh40tv ... r_embedded

Lyrics:The putrid flock of renown sets off again
the smell of fear is calling out to them
they wisp away lost in fog and fen
their crafted skills will take the lives of men

Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run

What will you do when evil corners you
stand be not afraid and face the dull edged blade
of pain and unknown tonight your all alone
no will to fight for what you know is right

Coward run
your hopes undone
led by none
evil you become

The drive to stop is gripped in the heart
what will take to rip yours apart?

Chorus: Walk alone and be overcome, your not strong enough
Don't look inside your alright, you will stay alive

Weaklings scatter across the darkened fields
Their lack of trust will make themselves revealed
No need to chase the ones who run
Break their hope and my work is done

Stay safe...and Die.

They say that there's a broken light for every heart on Broadway.
They say that life's a game, then they take the board away.
They give you masks and costumes and an outline of the story
Then leave you all to improvise their vicious cabaret...

i really like the music - the guitars and the melodies, riffs are all cool

I think the vocals could do with a bit more depth to the growls but still sounds good for a demo - well done

I really appreacite the feedback! My friend who does vocals for me had a hard time doing the faster parts. He is more of a black metal or doom metal vocalist but I like the contrast it brings. But yes I think beefing it up would help. Thanks again for listening.

I like the vocals, the phrasing is fine and works for the rythmic patterns in the music, the production is demo, but then, I like demo ;). If anything, I'd have put the vocals a bit further back in the mix.

I am reminded of Ebony Tears, if you know them. They have a similar sense of tension.

I think thats good advice. I'll try to lower them next time. I just listened to Nectors of Eden by Ebony Tears....I can totally hear it and wow this band is awesome!
