Cliffs of Dover

#1 Post by eolas » 29 Mar 2009 13:45

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to play Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson and I can play the most of the intro with some scratches but there's one party annoys me too! The one in like 30th second, like 19-15-19-15-19-15-17-15-17-15... in different strings. Does Johnson use a special technique or is he just picking around?

Thanks

Eric Clapton? lol. I doubt he could play this song.

And the answer to your question is yes, he does use a technique. He uses the pick and his ring finger to play that. The way he do it is he plays the G note on 15 with the finger and the other notes using the pick.

I find that way to be much easier than normal picking. So if you want to play it as fast as he does do it the way he does :) .

Oops, sorry for the mistake: ) I'm quite sure that Clapton could also play it, but I've doubts if he could write it.

This technique is called "chicken picking", isn't it?

(5 minutes later)

Okay, I'm trying it now but it seems easier to use the middle finger though I must work hard for a while.

Thanks a lot, it'll save the effort I was giving to normal pick that one
