Show in Rijssen

#1 Post by duchessdeer » 24 Sep 2016 18:56

Hi,

is anybody going to the show in Rijssen on 9. december?
We'll drive over from Germany and want to spend the afternoon / early evening there. Maybe someone has something planned, too or knows some good place to grab food?

I'll be there, but I'm not sure how late we'll arrive... In the past we have had some fun barbequeing on the parking lot, but that was in may... Don't really know much about the town, as we never actually entered it.

Just found out about this show, I'd love to come but I'm not sure on how to get there...could anybody help me maybe?
I'm currently in Manchester, so I could probably manage to find a flight to Amsterdam not too expansive, could I get easily to Rijssen from there?

Okay. I googled and found a few suitable places, dunno when we will be there, though. I hope we don't have much traffic.

@sciacallo010: Google tells me it's two and a half hours from Amsterdam to Rijssen by train. That's quite a lot and I dunno about the public transportations in the Netherlands. Would surely be easier to rent a car. For me, it would be too much time with the flight and all.

Dunno, I guess that it would turn out to be quite expansive, maybe I'll pass this time

Not too bad, if my plan to go to the X-Mas Bash goes sideways I'll seriously consider to come to Rijssen

And the venue is a 5 or 10 minute walk from the station if I remember correctly...

I ended up choosing the Christmas Bash, getting to Rijssen was a bit too complicated :)

Only 9 more days to go. I'm pretty thrilled, it will be my first BG show plus we now know that we will meet there with some friends we didn't see in a long time. (Plus it's childfree weekend *lol*, any parent will understand.)

Still alive, but with little voice left.

We arrived at the venue two and a half hours early, because "there will be lots of traffic" turned into "nearly no traffic at all". Nobody there, so we went for a walk through the industrial zone *lol*.
After our friends did make it too, we took or place in the line a half hour before doors openend. I must say, I had thought there would be more people. Felt like 50 people at this time, but may have been more. No problem there to get into second row, even after a walk through the venue and a beer.
Everyone thought it, I say it: the supporting act was awful. I just felt sorry for those guys, but you didn't understand one word and most of the people around me had their phones out (and not to take pictures). The venue filled near the end of it, I still found it pretty small anyway, but no complains here ; ).
Blind Guardian themself were awesome (even though I had hoped for a santa claus outfit or at least a hat, not sure what the christmas was supposed to be, apart from the christmas tree skeletons on the ceiling).
The setlist: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/blind-gua ... bd53d.html

All in all a wonderful evening, especially since my crazy friend literally dragged me into first row at the end of Valhalla and we got to see and scream Sacred Worlds, The Bard's Song and Mirror Mirror from the best position ever.

@Gandalf de Grijze How has it been for you?

I agree with you... support act was horrible!!
But BG played probably one of the best gigs ever... I love this venue because it is so small, it is nice and cozy with great atmosphere, perfect for BG in my opinion. Everybody was clearly there for BG and everybody was loud. Loved every second of it... and 2h20m of BG show was also awesomeness!!!
