New tour! First show! Any chance of a live setlist update?

#1 Post by fonzbear2000 » 30 Mar 2015 02:36

With the first show of the new tour coming up in just a few days, it would be great to see the setlist live as it happens. Does anyone from here plan to be at that show who could text the songs on here as they play them? That would be so wonderful!

Agreed. Also some well-shot recordings of the new songs would be amazing. Surely there are some native German fans here?

Yeah, that.

I'm seeing them in London on the 12th - it'd be nice to have a heads up from the couple of shows before that what to expect in the setlist. :)

I'm at the airport heading there.
I'll surely take some pictures (and maybe also some videos) and write down the set list, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow for me to post them.

Last tour we had live updates on the set list of the first concert, thanks to Gandalf. And although I don't expect much from the set this time, something similar to that updates would be nice. It's interesting what new songs the band will play.
I think the set list will be similar to that from the previous tour. Nothing revolutionary, no long awaited, never played classics and lots of overplayed famous songs. Would like to be mistaken, there is always a hope :)

Still no setlist on setlist.fm

And the updates last tour didn't come from me but from Little Dragon who could access the venue's wifi with her phone (my phone doesn't have any form of internets, so don't expect me to update next week friday ;) )

Prophecies was played. You can find a recording on YouTube. Not bad; the audience doesn't seem to know the lyrics, however. :(

Ask and receive:

The Ninth Wave
Banish from Sanctuary
Nightfall
Fly
Tanelorn (Into the Void)
Prophecies
The Last Candle
Miracle Machine
A Past and Future Secret
Bright Eyes
Majesty
Journey Through the Dark
Imaginations from the Other Side
Sacred Worlds
Twilight of the Gods
Valhalla
Wheel of Time
The Bard's Song - In the Forest
Mirror Mirror

I'm somewhat okay with this, although I'm hoping for The Holy Grail or Sacred Mind as well. 4 new songs and 3 from ATEOT isn't too bad. Still, would prefer some of the older stuff like Valhalla and Journey through the Dark and one IFTOS song be swapped out for some ANATO songs and maybe another ATITM.

EDIT: Ninja'd :x

That must have been a huge show , with The Ninth Wave, Sacred Worlds and Wheel of Time among 19 songs.
Replace Nightfall, Fly, Majesty, Valhalla and Mirror Mirror and you get a pretty descent set list.

I'm glad to see 7 songs from the last 2 albums. Unfortunately there are no surprises from NIME and ANATO. Journey Through The Dark is a nice addition, they didn't play it on the previous tour, hope to hear it too. And i'm curious what Heavy in Bright Eyes means.

pretty nice... really happy they took some of the criticisms to heart and played 4 songs from the new album and 3 from ateot, could personally have done without last candle (would have preferred goodbye my friend, or lost in the twilight hall) and also iftos or valhalla could have been replaced with an anato song.
But yay for banish and journey!!! and double yay for apafs!

Great set list. I am very pleased with the set list. :)
bad is too many songs with ATEOT.
I would change songs Tanelron, Miricle machine for Otherland and Holy grail.

Im very very very happy for songs: NINTH WAVE, BANISH, A PAST AND, MAJESTY, JOURNEY :D :D :D :D :D

Disappointed with the setlist or with the uploaded performances? The performance of Prophecies seems really good to me. The setlist is definitely an improvement to earlier shows but I'm disappointed as well that theres not a single song off Opera.

even without the Opera song (on which I agree, pretty disappointed at that), this is probably one of the most revolutionary setlists in recent tours. The album played most is finally the most recent album in support of which they are touring! (and not an Iftos tour #666.000)
I agree also that the performances that were uploaded are good, too bad that Prophecies had not so great soundquality. 9th wave however I was really happy with, and in general Hansi seems to be in pretty good shape with the rest of the band playing strong as well...

The finishing singalong is probably longer than that of Valhalla on ITTLG. Is it the new record? :P

Must hear the acoustic guitar version of Miracle Machine soon

Indeed, the setlist is "revolutionary" in the sense that the "staple" songs have become much rarer - only Nightfall, Imaginations (, maybe Bright Eyes) and the "big three" Bard's Song, Valhalla and Mirror Mirror. And that's definitely a good thing. That they play four songs from the new album is great as well. The only thing I'm missing is a real surprise, something like "Hey, we prepared Curse of Feanor / Battlefield / Lionheart / Sadly Sings Destiny / Wait for an Answer (guess my favourite album) / When Sorrow Sang / ... for you".

What I noticed as well is that the rest of the band has vastly improved their backing vocals in the last couple of years, apparently the Schüren-Training pays off. They still aren't great singers, but most of the time the backing lines harmonize very well. Thinking of some older bootlegs where some backing vox are ... not so enjoyable.

Avelar: the original outro during BGOA was at least twice as long as how they cut it on the dvd ;)

and holy hell do i agree on more ANATO songs!!!!

I think the setlist is a fairly good representation of the band's older and newer material. Maybe it's because this will be my BG Cherry-popping experience ( ), but I can't say I don't want to hear a single one of those songs played. I know the band have said that they've rehearsed 40 tracks in total for the tour - I guess that's a rough number rather than an absolute? - so that each show can be slightly different, but even as a base it seems good to me.

I'm surprised 'Miracle Machine' made it onto a live set - I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I just raised an eyebrow at it.

I'm really happy to hear 'Journey Through The Dark' and 'The Last Candle'. Just add 'Time What Is Time' for my money and I'll leave Camden a VERY happy man next Sunday!! 8)

I'm really curious if and if so when they will play Curse of feanor.
During those aksing session, it was said that they rehearsed it.

But i could imagine that they may skip it if they are not satisfied with its live sound.

I saw the EMP 'Portal' t-shirt a while ago (and resisted buying it because of the tour dates on the back), but I agree it'd be nice to have a heads-up on the actual merch. :)

Nooooo!! Journey Through the Dark is one of the best songs on that setlist!!

Enjoy tonight and be sure to update us all on the setlist. I'm curious to see what sort of variations we can expect between shows. \m/

These are nice songs of course, but it's boring to play it on each show. At least they could sometimes replace songs like Valhalla, Nightfall, Mirror Mirror with others. It would be cool if no song was granted a place in a set list.

8) Thanks!

I take it 'Sacred' is 'Worlds' rather than 'Mind'?
Actually, got it. It's on setlist.fm: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/blind-gua ... 8a921.html :)

As I promised here are some photos I took in Krefeld last week http://imgur.com/a/PuEa8
In the end there are also a couple of photos of the hoodie I bought.
Apart from that, well...the setlist has been posted already so I'll just add that the gig has been great, Hansi was in great shape and of course all the others played flewlessly.
A nice surprise, to me, has been Miracle Machine that with the addition of some acoustic guitars here and there was truly magic.

I'm so looking forward to see them tomorrow!

Yep, Hansi told us they're recording shows for a new live album. I can't believe Live was already more than 10 years ago!
Want to type some more about the show, when I have time & energy ^^
In any case, I was very pleased they played a full set of 2 hours (last few times seemed more like 90 minutes, or I just had a lot of festival shows). And Hansi's vocals are unbelievable!

Oh yeah, and very nice to hear APAFS live again, that's just magic.

Yeah, Hansi was really at the top of his game in Eindhoven.

Also loved the fact that they made full use of the intro's they have by playing the War of Wrath/Into The Storm combo and putting Sacred at the beginning of an encore as well...
I had goosebumps at several moments, most notably during the intro to 9th wave and during the miracle machine/APAFS acoustic miniset.
