The Forgotten Tales pt2

#1 Post by OmegaSlayer » 01 Jan 2015 22:42

First of all, the guys should think about releasing it
The first one was released after the first 5 albums, now we almost have 5 records more and loads of songs.

It would be fun if they guys would revisit one song from each record in acoustic version.
I think it would be killer and so loved by their fans.

What would be your tracklist?
One song from record, not the ones already released and NOT your favourite, but the one that would translate better into an acoustic/orchestral version.

1 - The Martyr
2 - Hall Of The King
3 - Lost In The Twilight Hall
4 - Somewhere Far Beyond
5 - And The Story Ends
6 - When Sorrow Sang
7 - Battlefield
8 - Otherland
9 - Valkyries

That's a nice topic man! If such a compilation will be released they should add the alternate versions of "Grand Parade" and "Miracle Machine" there and also record that Elvis song Hansi and Andre were talking about in an interview, so that Part 2 also has some exclusive material. I'd rather it were a mixture of everything, not a purely acoustic album, to be fair.

I shall think about which songs they should put there :).

As much as I love BG covers I think 20 years ago the guys didn't have enough material or were not considering much older songs, so they did had to fill Forgotten Tales with covers.
I'm much more interested in BG having another take on one of their own song/concept rather than BG having their take on someone else's song.
Even if I would like to listen to their Viva Las Vegas version, but the coolest already released version is not by the Dead Kennedy one but the ZZTop one.

I think FT II should be a mixed album and could be like this:

- Somewhere far beyond (Orchestral version)
- Valhalla (Acoustic version)
- Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen cover)
- Brian 2016
- Dead Sound of Misery
- Feuer Frei (Rammstein cover)
- In a gadda da vida (Iron Butterfly Cover)
- Curse of Feanor (Alternate non metal orchester version)
- Dream a little dream of me (Mamas and Papas cover)
- Doom
- Frutto del Buio
- A past and a futures secret (Trve metal version)

A bit of everything, including their B-Sides.
In case of the Rammstein cover i was a bit kidding but nevertheless it would be cool to have Song in German.

If they do it, it needs to be something special.

I would like something like this:

-The Trooper (Iron Maiden cover, Hansi already sung this live with D&W)
-Nightfall acoustic version
-Curse My Name acoustic version (proper version of the demo)
-Dead On Time (Queen cover)
-St. Elmo's Fire (John Parr cover)
-Winter's Coming (B-side of Beyond the Red Mirror)
-Maiden and the Minstrel Knight semi-acoustic/orchestral (acoustic parts with the more bombastic parts with choirs and orchestra)
-NiME B-side (if there is still one that did not make the latest album)
-Miracle Machine alternate mix
-Grand Parade alternate version
-And Then There Was Silence with an orchestra (together with the previous versions assets)
-Wacken 2011 Tanelorn
-At The Edge of Time orchestral track
-Mirror Mirror instrumental track

Why did you choose 'Dead On Time'? :)

One of my favorite songs by Queen.
Just keep in mind, this world is sacred.

I would love BG to take on the more rock/groovy side of Queen (other songs would do as well) and thought it would be interesting to hear Hansi tackle the vocals. There are oppertunities for some epic screams and some nice build ups between a more clean style and harsh vocals. I think some intrumental adjustments by Andre and Marcus could be interesting as well. It would be something that strays quite a bit from most stuff BG has done and the song rocks. It just popped up in my head when writing the list :)

I agree, the song is nice and considerably heavier/more aggressive than many other Queen songs. I really like the whole 'Jazz' album. 'More Of That Jazz' would be fun too, I think, a great overlooked song with Roger on vocals. And imagine Hansi doing 'Bicycle Race', should be incredibly epic, and it offers a lot of possibilities for the choir company to shine as well. :) On the other hand, 'Bicycle Race' may be a little bit too mainstream, 'Dead On Time' is certainly better in this respect.

It would be more interesting to see on that FT pt2 album to be pulled with real orchestra, since there are less and less of hopes that they'll ever record that long time promised orchestra album about, first tolkien works, and than announced some new fantasy novel...

Forgotten tales pt.2 with orchestra>

1. Battlefield
2. Nightfall
3. Hall of the King
4. Follow the Blind
5. Maiden and Minstrel Knight
6. Valhalla
7. I'm Alive
8. Run for the Night
9. Martyr
10. Time what is Time
11. Lost in the Twilight Hall
12. Brian
13. Symphonies of Doom
14. A Dark Passage
When the sky is burning,
see the Moon falling down.
On your right is lightning.
See the war in the sky.

Remember Brian,
when it's time.
Remember Brian.

As for covers, I'd love to hear their take on Queen's Gimme the Prize, particularly if Hansi uses the same vocal cadence he did for Morgoth or Mordred.
