70,000 tons of METAL, 2015

#1 Post by OzzyDickinson » 28 Nov 2014 20:52

Hey everyone. Been away from here for far too long, I do apologize. Sort of ran out of money for Euro tours. I remember fondly BGOA and all the awesome people and friends I met then. I'm hoping maybe a few of you are doing the Cruise this Jan? I finally scraped enough dollars together to go! Cant Fkin wait. Really excited to see BG again and hopefully a few new songs will be played!

So if anyone round here is goin, love to meet up with some more fellow BG fans. Lets make some plans!

Well it seems I've been quite forgotten. Oh well. Hope there are some BG fans on the cruise...

Sorry for being "ignored" - but fear not, there will be quite a bunch of Guardian-fans on the cruise. Just check out how many stops their last US-tour had. ;) But still Blind Guardian has more fans in Europe than in the States or South America - and for us it's quite an expensive trip to go there. And this forum is usually quite deserted - only a bunch of veterans are active here when there's not an album coming up. ;)

They need to perform with everything they got because last time a lot of people were napping in their shows.

Interesting. I wish I could have been on that first cruise, but I heard about it too late. In all the votings BG seems to be the biggest name band, most popular this time. But I guess will have to wait and see. Still like 30 to ne announced however...

I considered it, as I'm going to Canada just before, and a friend was willing to go too, but it's just way too expensive. Over a 1000 dollars without even counting the booze and the trip to Florida is more than what I'd spend in 3 weeks in Canada, on the whole tour in Europe or even catching an overpriced second hand ticket to return to Wacken.

So not for me, sorry...

I'll be there! Again :P

Haven't missed one yet but given the Australian Dollar is nowhere near as strong against the US I imagine this will be my last for a while.

I hear ya, same for the Can$. We were stronger than the US$ not so long ago lol. Costing me large but it will be worth it. Got bigger plans than just seeing metal bands on a party boat....

Well back to the real world. What a blast, BG did not dissapoint(I know, they never do!). Was a shame their last out door show was crazy windy and cold it did keep some crowd away but they battled through it like the pros they are.... Got to listen to the new album over a killer PA and met and chatted with the band who signed my BG OpenAir plastic glass. Told Marcus and Andre I forgot the Popcorn, and said to Andre 'not bad for a hologram!' they both got a good laugh from that. Then to top it all off, at a sightseeing tour in Jamacia, Hansi was in the group! Got a great photo of that. Cant wait to do it again!

Fuck, sounds like it was one hell of a ride! You're really lucky man. :)

Found a few videos on youtube.. not the decent quality though... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rKRJrG52ho

Edit : The flanger effect on what appears to be Marcus's guitar is annoying?!

Some video's of the first concert:

Tanelorn (into the void): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTQ6XBDZuU4 (some epic screams here. 4:16)
Nightfall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vK3auAePzk (gotta love the I SWEAR REVENGE part. 2:20)
And Then There Was Silence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPzffWQqZ9c

As far as the quality goes, it sounds like a great concert. Definately jealous!!! :D I sure hope they play like this coming tour.

(yes, I have no life whatsoever now, after listening the entire BG discography all day while doing simple tasks, I am in full BG mode :P )

Haha, yes, I can see myself rockin and bouncing around in these vids. I was right infront of Andre. I met the guy who filmed this durring the out door set, and the sound will not be good for those, it was just too windy. He gave up filming before the end of the set. Funny moment to watch for, cant remember what song, but the CO2 guns missfired because of wind and sprayed Marcus, the look on his face was priceless!
He (guy recording) did have a good set up, but the sound was so loud and 'raw', you can see that on stage, only the simplest equipment was set up, then amp'ed through the PA. So I think the sound overpowed the mirophone on his camera a bit, if you know what I mean.

I got one video from each set. Too busy rocking out and singing along to bother getting more.

The listening party for the new album was great. Sucked that security was so tight as it would have been a nice memento to get a photo to say "I was there".
