The Complete Tokyo Tales Quest

#1 Post by Gabo » 17 Feb 2014 05:22

Hello guys! :D

I first listened to TT when I was 13. I got the album as a birthday gift, together with Angras' Holy Live. I bought them in a specialized Rock Gallery here in Brazil, and it just put my brains in the ceiling. It has been my favorite live album (with Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous) for as long as I can remember. I'm about to turn 23, and while making a search for reviews in the internet (I like to see what other people think about this amazing album, wich sadly has so few reviews :? ) I found out that there is a bootleg version of it. I've searched both ebay and this forum and have not seen any references to where to buy or download it.

Does anyone here know where can I buy or download it (prefereably both)? It seens to be no other way I can put my hands and ears in this piece of gold! Of course, if anyone here has it and would madly sell it, I would be glad to buy it! hahaha

BTW, if you guys have any recomendations for any albums/bands that have the kind of sound that the Bards deliver in this album, I would be pleased to listen. Iced Earth's Live in Athens is similar in it's raw power, almost trash-like riffs and epicness.

I'm from São Paulo, Brazil. How much would a copy cost?

Too bad man :(

Do you think you can upload it (or do you know somewhere where I can download it)? Has anyone here already done that?

Haha, yeah, thanks again! :)
That little bastard costs half a fortune if accidently find it on eBay...

Shipping to Brazil must be 3,45€, yet I'd send it by registered mail, so - as far as I know - that'd be 5,60€.

You guys mean this bootleg?

I can upload it to Dropbox for you to download, then remove it when you are done, just to keep it a bit exclusive. :D

Hi,

I'm new to the forum.
Since I am a big fan, I was looking for some "extra" records besides the usual releases.
Finding this subject and the post by Dentarhunrdent, I was wandering if there is the possibility to get a copy (CD) of that rare release.

I've checked the web for a chance to buy online, though even on ebay there nothing at the moment.

Do you know about any other releases and where to buy?

Bootlegs, Promo, etc?

Regards

Try to contact Milan Skoda

http://www.milan-skoda.cz/blindguardian ... na_eng.htm

Here he is offering to make you copies of bootlegs or whole collections.
So it is better to get it there instead of Ebay, since bootlegs are no official releases the wrong people earn money with BG's music, that in my eyes isn't fair.
Sorry about my bad english, but the good one is on vacation!

Thank you Traveller in Time,

since you mention it
wrong people earn money with BG's music
...
This collection seems to be very very big and inofficial.

I must say, it would be great to posess this collection, but I want to get official stuff (since this is the only way to support the band).

Anyway thank you for the opportunity.

Milan is a close friend to the band and "selling" copies of the bootlegs for 1 euro each CDR, so just to cover his charges (CDR, webpage etc).
What i meant was paying 15 or 20 euro for a single booklet.
Bootlegs are always inofficial, else they would be no bootlegs.

Another thanks to you for clarification.

As far as I can see - even the band members are owners of those copies (according to his page).
I will try to contact him.

Actually I intended to find some promo or limited bonus editions.
(I posted on this subject because I thought it was a rare Japan - edition (as some bands used to release))

I wish the band, in retrospect, would release The Complete Tokyo Tales mixed and mastered like the current Tokyo Tales :(
(the bootleg isn't that good quality)
A dvd of the show would be a nice bonus!

Well yes, that's always the issue with bootlegs, isn't it? ;)

I have to say, though, that I like the sound of the Complete Tokyo Tales. You can hear everything, but you can also hear very distinctively that it's a live-sound, and you also hear a lot from the audience. Not to mention Hansi's heavily accented announcements :D

As for collecting rare official releases - Blind Guardian also released special Japanese versions of most albums (I'm pretty sure there was even a Japanese edition of ATitM containing All the King's Horses as bonus track). And then there are the different versions of ANatO with the different languaged versions of Harvest of Sorrow. There are the original old Lucifer's Heritage demos (and apparently two extremely rare extra Demotapes for TftTW and SFB respectively). There are the Picture Vinyls of most of the albums released on Virgin. And of course the ridiculous amount of entirely unnecessary different editions Nucular Blast has taken to throw on the market these last few years. Happy Hunting!

I can confirm that, i have it in my collection. I really was hunting for it, because All the King's horses was only available on the japanese ATITM edition before the second single (Another stranger me) came out, and had it as bonus.

There are bootlegs that are of tremendous quality. The Complete Tokio Tales is far from that unfortunately. Unless there are different recordings floating around and I have a lesser one :O
