Hansi with other bands

#1 Post by floidmoon » 04 Dec 2012 14:27

While looking for something to listen to encountered this piece of work:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jICztaajCpc
(Hansi's part at 3:32)

Do you know any other songs with Hansi's voice? God I really love this sound, and while waiting for next BG album I realized how much I would like to listen to it.

I listened to another song with Hansi, but I don't remember the name, and was it Therion or Theatre of Tragedy :/

Aerion is nice suprise, great music, thx. Especially that I was looking for something new to listen to :) And for effort of linking to every song :D

Any one else? Cuz we could put all the links to first post and keep it as library for future reference.

He also did backing vox on some Grave Digger albums. I'm 100% sure of Excalibur, maybe also on Knights of the Cross. Not sure which songs, but you can clearly hear him in Avalon, for example.

In "Out Of Control" Hansi sings short part after solo and in second part of refrain (as for me, it's best part of this track ;)

Hansi is featured on Gamma Ray's "Farewell" from the Land of the Free I album. I can't remember if there are any others right now and I can't scope out more because of limited Internet access though. He also performs on Nepal's "Besando La Tierra". I'm not sure if it's a cover of the song that has him in it though or the original version.

Hey friend.

The samples were from the mix desk. They weren't the final versions with mastering etc. As the project moved on, it was time to remove the WIP versions and add full songs. If you want, you can check the Youtube channel to listen to two full songs.

Here is the channel link;

Hansi singing with a death metalcore band?.. :? Not that I have anything against this genre, but it is so different from BG's music... Still gonna be interesting to listen to.

The cover is on youtube, Hansi's voice fits surprisingly well with the screaming. And I absolutly love the short parts where he screams himself

Holy shit. What an unexpectedly awesome cover. Melodic Hansi vocals kick ass backing up the growls.
Oh my god, and Hansi's harsh vocals are fucking AMAZING. I TOLD YOU ALL.
I can't think of anything clever to put here.

Indeed that cover is fucking awesome. Sufficiently different from the original plus the tribute to the original at the end. Great work. Im talking about Valhalla ofc.

I can't believe ! It's impossible everything that Hansi touch's to became so unbelievable awesome...but it's a FACT !!!!
This version is really amazing...especially the outro !!! Anyway, I really have no idea how is it possible he's voice to sound so great and all the time different whatever kind of metal genre to sing :!:
This guy is more than genius !

P.S. Can't wait to hear the orchestral project :!:

That is him indeed. It took me a while to realize myself. I think he strained his vocal chords somewhat to do that song, but the result is awesome. I also love the radical change to the song between 2:58-3:10. Maybe that cover will give some ideas to Hansi for the next BG album who knows :P, but then he might have a problem performing live :P.

I wonder if it really did strain his vocal chords though, there were times in that song where his harshness sounded... very natural. I'd be a bit sad if he couldn't do that sound more often, it is simply amazing.
Especially now that I've been listening to a lot of ATEOT and MOATTC re-recordings, but Hansi is a fucking great vocalist. I mean, that's well known, but some of his very best performances are recent. That's great for fans xD

I hope the irony was strong with this post... The cover is pretty cool, indeed. But imagining these drums and those harsh singing throughout a complete BG song makes me cry, lie on the floor and put NiME into the player...

Well I was kinda serious, but of course I just said some idea, like a small influence, not like the cover. For example, the vocals of the HSB vocalist are of course much more brutal than what Hansi did, and the guitars are miles away from anything Andre will ever want to play probably. So yeah, like a small influence maybe, if it works out of course. Blind Guardian always try new things so who knows.

I've had sentiments similar to bestpike's before, and I still agree. A degree of influence would serve well. We don't mean it causing the band to play core metal, just having some rougher edges to the songs with respect to Hansi doing harsh, melodic growls (which I've never heard anyone do before Hansi in Heaven Shall Burn's Valhalla) and guitar techniques.
I can't think of anything clever to put here.

Can't say I was superimpressed by the cover... It isn't a horrible cover, but a far cry from the awesomeness you guys are proclaiming it to be, at least in my opinion...

I don't know, I don't usually like most core metal, but hearing Hansi's voice do different things in a different musical environment makes it really awesome for me!

What a pile of garbage. Not the worst cover I know, but what's good about this one (except for the outro which actually has some nice vocal layerings and melody)? No dynamics, burying the lead guitar in the mix in order to stay br00tal - sorry, that just doesn't do the song justice.

I must admit, I'm generally not a fan of Metalcore-stuff, but I usually appreciate their grooves and ideas - but that one's more like the worst of both worlds: no groove (the original has little of it, mostly power chords - and here they even dropped the nice fills in the "Magic is in me"-part), less melody and bland noise that's supposed to be vocals.

Hansi's harsh vocals are good in this but is not even close to IFTOS greatness. Hansi was a demon in that record.
