Hey Bards, what are you doing?

I'm one to talk, but with all due respect, I'd like to be a little more posted on what's going on with you guys. That is, Hansi and the gang. I get you're grown men with families and probably working on the album, but nothing was better than GuardianTV and the glimpses into the studio before ATEOT.

Not everyone is as easily/willfully immersed in social media as others, and perhaps rightfully so, but even a tweet/blog from Marcus/sign of life on the main page would make my immense fandom/obsession with your work and careers seem a little more real.

Hell, a sentence a month, what's currently driving your inspirations, how the new work feels.. Surely there's something to say. You're artists, after all, highly respected musicians.

Even if my dreams never come true I'll still love your work as much and eagerly await the next album. But, hey, we should talk more, baby. I have needs.

Hmm maybe their songwriting requires absolute seclusion, who knows. I'd love some news as well, but just let them work imo. Wouldn't want to upset the songwriting process now, would we? :P

Maybe it's just too much early, and there's nothing worthwhile to tell. Would you really care to know how the first days in the life of a movie go, with some random people attempting to write a script that will have to be revisioned countless times? I'm not so sure the band would like to report on some random riffs they came up with that maybe won't even bother to consider once the songwriting goes on.

This is more my selfish fandom bleeding through than anything. I didn't expect loyal forumites to jump on the bandwagon of pressuring our favorite artists in to doing something.

Still, as early as they may be in the songwriting process, some kind of cursory connection to them would be nice - whether or not it's new material related. The orchestral project is more than 10 years in the making, for example, and for how little we know of it... hey, there's an idea for October's sentence update. Keep me piqued. Tell me if there will be a song inspired by Tulkas, or something. Anything. How the band mood is.

Again, I'm mostly being selfish, and I think things like The Hobbit production diaries leave me spoiled. You could argue The Hobbit as a movie is hundreds of times more dense and involved than the process of writing an album, true, but as a writer myself, I always have teasers I can drop, interest to stir.. A general sense of how things "are", even if it's once a month.

I'm not going to push this much further. It's just a selfish whim, and maybe they'll see one fan's plight.

And conversely, if given the choice, would you rather -not- get small updates now and then?

I think that it's really to early for news about the new album, but I can agree that it's somehow a shame that they don't have news on the site since july this year :(

I feel the same.

You probably all read this message but I'll cite it to make my point:

"During the next weeks we will provide you with the exact content once it is completely confirmed. There will be tons of material… "

-Hansi (July 2012).

I am a bit dissapointed that they did not at least give a slight update or indication regarding this or other projects. We already have to wait at least like two years or longer to see them, so a bit of info would definately keep the bards alive a bit more.

Regardless they are my favourite band and I love everything they have done so far, but wish they were a bit more "social" trough the net.

Orodaran is probably right here, and combined with the known development cycle of Blind Guardian albums, the beggining is always the slowest and toughest one, so lets be a bit more patient. All that matters is we get a good album i the end. In the meantime, I suggest Wintersun's Duke Nukem Forever album to pass some time:p

Time I is awesome, yes. I would have preferred a bit more guitar orientated mixing though. Also saw Wintersun live last week in 013 in Tilburg and they were good! :D

But still, I would have liked a small message from the bards :P

Bards at work:
There is this article, but it is written in brazilian portuguese.

http://www.blindguardianbrasil.com.br/2 ... -work.html

It just tells the bards are already working hard on new songs, that they have already a direction for the new album cover, and that an artist who has made some album covers for them in the past is in "Blind Guardian mode", working for the new album cover.
It tells too that the author of the article don't know if they will come up first with orchestra or default album, but he believes there will be something released at some point of 2013, cuz this guy (the site owner) has some hot contacts towards the band.

And he finishes saying that we should prepare our hearts 8)

I agree what you talked above, there should not be much news yet... and things must be still growing up... remember what Andre talked about "Wheel of Time", that the song took about 1,5 year to get done

Nice interview about their history and some facts about their past, but no real surprises.
For example they tell about their wild youth and first tours, about their experince with labels (Charly Rinne) and producers (Trapp, Rasmussen, Bauerfeind),about Frederik's first days etc.

There are only a few news about their future:

- They are working on regular studio album and the orchestra album (orchestra album just editing and producing is missing)
- regular album will be first to be released (at the earliest 2014)
- No touring before both albums are released
- two songs of the Nightfall era are partly recorded and will be released some day(but still a lot of work on them)
- BGOA 2 maybe some day with regular set and orchester set (DVD recordings) not before 2015

About the box set:
- all albums from the EMI/Virgin era, all remixed with unreleased bonus tracks, the first version of The bard's song and the demo of trial by fire, plus a photo book and some background stories.
for collectors.
- Hansi even thinks about a vinyl release, but of course the price would be much higher, because you need more LPs than CDs for alle those songs.
- Andre says that the Imaginations remix sounds heavy.

funny facts (some were already known):
- Charlie Bauerfeind saved the Nightfall production, he organized the choas they had left (recordings saved on different disks, nobody did know where, there were no backups etc., they already had 3 deadlines)
- Hansi's recommended some german beer to Robbie Williams
- The Forgotten Tales was done within 5-6 weeks under pressure of Virgin to feature and promote the Mr. Sandman cover song
- Valhalla was the fastest written and produced song (2 days) and they first didn't want to put it on the album, because it was so cheesy
- Marcus dislikes playing Valhalla
- Barabara Ann and Don't break the circle were fillers to reach LP playing time
- The TFTTW promotion party took place in a traffic jam
- working title of "Fast to Madness" was "Final Warning"
and it's nice to know that they haven't lost their jocularity.

EDIT: a yeah and those who didn't know: The name of their actual guest bass player is Barend Courbois (it's sad they never mentioned his name on the gigs i was visiting)
