I'm quite sure I've read that somewhere, and the music video backs up my thesis.

Everything in the lyrics fits for the story of a boy with dramatic childhood with bad memories, never supported by his parents or abandoned by them and I feel that at the same time the child is looking to some other world - the fantasy one- which will help him about getting out of the reality. . And, I read somewhere that the song is for a child abandoned by his parents, which was said by Hansi...just can't remember where, but I'm sure...and for me the lyrics really fits for something dramaticly like this ;) But, at the end, what can I say - that's why I love BG, because there could be lot of interpretaitions to their lyrics :D

Yeah, but on the other hand it also get lost in this virtual world and loses touch with reality, which is the dangerthing I meant. Didn't remember the abandoning part, though.

Listening to BG is pure magic...not only for the music by itself, I mean that there are just so many things to think while listening to them. In my opinion every child who was suffering in his childhood, could find himself in Bright eyes ;)

And, yeah, on the other hand, I think that the video game replaces the fantasy world, just because it fits more for the clip :D

Imaginations From The Other Side, Bright Eyes, and And The Story Ends form a trilogy story of original content. Imaginations introduces the boy's facination with fantasy, Bright Eyes describes his inability to fit in with the modern world, and Story Ends is about him making the plunge into a fantasy dimension (through the mirror on the cover of the album) and making the choice between good and evil.

I remember reading that somewhere.

"Turn your back
On the ones you have loved
Enjoy the heat of your whore
Babylon".

It's only that scant mention; the rest of the song sounds like it's about the apocalypse.

Battlefield is about the Lay of Hildebrandt, which is a story about a father and son in a fight to the death.

I saw it on a lyric meaning site and on youtube comments. Let me try find it.

Edit: Found a brilliant blog where they analyzed DSoM. The actual post and contents are interesing. http://hrugnir.wordpress.com/articles-a ... of-misery/

Edit edit: A comment by the blog's author:

Thanks for commenting my “analysis”, Believer. I am indeed a Christian myself, currently in a Bible School here in Uppsala, Sweden. When I wrote this, I don’t think I fully understood what things the songs dealt with, and I might expand on this analysis soon. It’s not really a proper analysis after all, is it? It’s just pointing to things in the lyrics I’ve identified in other places :)

Anyways, I think this song is a theological statement of sorts, giving a sorrowful view of humanity’s state in the End Times (i.e. our current age?). The line “Enjoy the heat of your whore, Babylon” shows their stance in a way…

Also, Hansi has stated in interviews that he is a critical Lutheran, which could really mean a lot of things… But he does have a passion for religion-related subjects. The rest of the band are of varying beliefs, I believe Andre or Marcus are New Agey, which is worrying. Anyhow, the song “The Edge” is what worried me the most. According to interviews and my own interpretation of the song, it deals with the idea that Paul of Tarsus “invented” Christ’s divinity. The song’s existance on the album does, however, not mean that Hansi believes in what the song talks about – the whole thing is after all quite cryptical, and the concept of the album is defined in “Skalds and Shadows”: “Truth or Myth – They’re one in my rhymes”

Blessings,
Peter

'' The Edge''-is not clear to me, whether he says that Paul invented Christ's divinity or?

''Control The Divine''- who has no right to control the divine?

If one understands these words, I'd like to explain to me, thank you! :D

yes, the Edge is about the Apsotle Paul and how he shaped christianity.

Control the Divine is about John Milton's Paradise Lost, i.e. the rebellion of Lucifer, who denies God the power to control the divine angels.

IIRC, Lost in the Twilight Hall is about Gandalf's death/rebirth in The Lord of the Rings. The lyrics show no real evidence either for or against, but I'm sure I've heard it somewhere.

Also, Bright Eyes being about the negative effects of video games seems a bit unlikely, considered that both André and Hansi have said on numerous occasions that they like games, listed their favourites, etc. Sure, they could do a song about it anyways, but seeing as nothing in the lyrics supports that interpretation, I think that the meaning is more abstract.

I'm sure that was Andre and Marcus. I'm sure I recall Hansi stating he doesn't really like games (Until Raving Rabbids xD)
I can't think of anything clever to put here.

Just my two cents - I've read somewhere that Weird Dreams might got the title by "Weird Tales", an american horror fiction pulp magazine where Howard Phillips Lovecraft wrote. There's no real, concrete connection to prove this, though, took off the same adjective and the frantic feelings. :)

I am not sure if Lost int the Twilight Hall is about Gandalf's rebirth. The beginning of the song would fit his story, however, the rest wouldn't. After all, Paul Artreides from Frank Herbert's Dune series is the Traveler in Time.

To be more precise: Fly is about the movie "Finding neverland", so nat exactly about Peter Pan, but about his author James M. Barrie.

All theories I'm reading online are split between these two. The TFFTW wikipedia page says Gandalf, too - but I don't know where the information comes from other than fan conjecture.

All the King's horses is a bit mythtic:

it coule be about Kulhwch ac Olwen (Talisien, Arthur), but i haven't found any battle which i think is mentioned in the song.
The verse is from Humpty Dumpty, and the grail is again Arthur.

Maybe again some hybrid fantasy story like Imaginations. :?

Did the Bard's never have a story that spanned multiple songs and albums (like Sonata's Caleb saga for example)?
