No.
No, best of albums are released when the opportunity is good to make some money with them

They say that life's a game, then they take the board away.
They give you masks and costumes and an outline of the story
Then leave you all to improvise their vicious cabaret...

That I can't remember a single best of released at the end of a carreer of a band

Guardian made a best-of album (assuming of course you can call it so) because Nuclear Blast asked them to...in any case a best-of album is never released in the end of a band's music career.

You probably thought this was a Nuclear Blast-release? Nope just Chuck Tes... Nope, Virgin/EMI-release. MoaTtC doesn't have anything to do with Nuclear Blast, except for that BG had to negotiate with NB to include songs originaly realeased under NB-label (This Will Never End, Ride into Obsession and Sacred Worlds).

And no, they're definitely not stopping to make music!

Best-of albums can bring the idea of an ending band, i think. BUT, when it is just a collection of songs.
Which MoaTtC is not!!! There are many new things!! This shows they are having new ideas, new perceptions...what means they still like their work and they're still feeling excited about it. What make me think we can hope there will be new stuff. I'm already hopeful 8)

It doesn't matter who actually released the album,it's certain that NB decided it was time for a best-of album for marketing reasons...

You think NB decides when EMI should release something?

Nope, Emi had the idea and was asking the band, and NB gave their permission for their songs mentioned above.

I think that the NB marketing department decided it was time for a compilation album and had the band make one,now as to why it was released by EMI and not NB I don't really know the reason.

Maybe because it has been Virgin/EMI and not NB who have been nagging the band with this idea for some time now... As stated by Hansi in various interviews...

At the rate they release albums, they'll be in their 60's or 70's by then!

If it was being released by NB there would be a U.S. release. Instead all of us U.S. Blind Guardian fan have to order it as an import for about $10 more.

It is not our problem ;) Maybe in the end they get faster again like in their beginning ;)

I wonder if EMI had a deal with NB (for example for getting 'Sacred Worlds', 'Ride into Obsession' and 'This will never end'), because NB will release vinyl editions of 'Memories of a time to come':

And it is marked as NB exlusive article!

I look at it as something to tide us over while they work on the orchestra album.

I see no problem with that:

Even dressed in his "graduating from Wizard School" outfit, at 68 years old, Page is still the ultimate badass. Another fantastic example is the wondrous Paul McCartney. Saw him three times in 2010 (and Blind Guardian twice - what a year for concerts!) and those shows were insane. So you'd better believe I'll be there for the "Blind Guardian: 50th Anniversary" tour!

It's amazing how well McCartney has maintained his voice, and Kursch seems to be doing the same thing as well.
