This would be the greatest thing ever for so many reasons.

Steven Erikson's Malazan Book Of The Fallen  That would eclipse all of their previous work IMO
I can't think of anything clever to put here.

"A Dance with Dragons" concept song (DO NOT POST SPOILERS OF ANY KIND! It's just...not right to mention anything such as that since there are no spoiler tags on this site)
Johannes Lichtenauer (old German swordmaster)
Joe Abercrombie. Either Logan Ninefingers or Inquisitor Glokta.

As a long time BG fan I'd say it's not about the concept of the lyrics with Blind Guardian, but the music (actual instruments plus vocal lines) and Hansi's interpretations of the stories that makes it at least to me all so awesome. I would say the actual concept of the songs matters to me about just 10-20%. But maybe it's different with others. If I had to choose a concept for next album I'd say hmm probably not a single theme, various stuff like normal would work best. After all we're getting the concept orchestral album. Maybe some of those religion-oriented lyrics (like in Precious Jerusalem, Sadly Sings Destiny, Punishment Divine etc). I don't know what secret sauce Hansi is using when writing his lyrics, but it makes them sound so awesome (I'm not religious at all mind you).
Now I'm riding through the air
Going to where no one dares
On the way I cross the line forevermore.
For once in life, I do not care
Nothing matters, now I dare
On the ride I'll cross the line
Forever to be free

Heh, I came in here because I wanted to post Neil Gaiman's Sandman but it was covered in the first post. I mean, just the titles of chapters lend themselves to songs:

Seasons of Mist
Preludes and Nocturnes
A Hope in Hell
Sound and Fury
The Sound of Her Wings

And that's just from the very first volume. I could definitely see Hansi tackling the Sandman mythos and make a song out of it. Or even a whole conceptual album. It's such a rich universe.

It's high time for Discworld Metal.

Years ago I suggested Miyazaki's movie 'Princess Mononoke' and I still feel like it can be great for a song.
And I didn't read it, but ever since Hansi commented on the idea (which was considered absurd at the time) of a song about Don Quixote as something that could work I've been liking that idea more and more as well.
I think that, as BG are trying new musical ideas (but within their "character") they should also try out new lyrical themes (like they do sometimes). I don't think there's an author that really tops Tolkien in the fantasy literature, and although there are different kinds of stories, writing about stuff like that will be inferior. Tolkien seems to mean a lot to the band and give overall inspiration, whereas other stories just give some themes. Therefore I think they should turn sideways more if not back to Tolkien...

Maybe not in terms of mythopoeia, but I've certainly read authors whose writing is better. Patrick Rothfuss springs to mind. I agree with Rider and wade, although TMBotF would require a 20-disc concept album.

Absolutely, although it would take a lifetime to fully cover.

I vote Discworld too. :D

Also, Harry Potter and/or the Chronicles of Narnia.

Definitely not Harry Potter! Narnia would be cool, but I think the story-telling is too childish and the story itself sometimes too christian...
