ATTWS/WOT

#1 Post by Baby_Kürsch » 05 Aug 2011 22:33

Well I just listed to them back to back a few times. There was some debate in my mind which was the better song, while Wheel of Time is grand in its own right it does not hold a flame to the epicness of ATTWS.

I cried (yes I am serious) 2-3 times for how epic the song is after listening to ATTWS and more than 8 times for WOT. That is how I measure perfectness.

I used to believe ATTWS to be the better song, but seriously, I just love WOT so much now; It's more concise, has better musicianship, and the added orchestral sounds all make it far better than ATTWS for me.
I can't think of anything clever to put here.

I admire ATTWS more, its much much harder to keep something interesting for 14 minutes than 9. But both songs are top notch.
Now I'm riding through the air
Going to where no one dares
On the way I cross the line forevermore.
For once in life, I do not care
Nothing matters, now I dare
On the ride I'll cross the line
Forever to be free

I love WoT, but honestly, if ATTWS had the same production qualities as ATEoT, it would probably be a better song.

Even if the wheel of time is an awesome song, I really prefer and then there was silence. I love the lyrics, the way it's played and mainly the live-version from ITTLG. This song is a real masterpiece (which doesn't mean, that WOT isn't good!)

I love both of them, but I'll give the edge to ATTWS. I think they're both BG two most complex songs. Sacred Worlds belongs on the list as well.

Sacred Worlds has always felt like it could've been a Hammerfall song or something, a bit simplistic when held against other BG songs. The orchestration is wonderful but it's fairly cut and dry other than that.

I fully disagree, I think its one of the most complex songs BG did and the orchestration ties in perfectly with the original track. In fact I can't really listen to Sacred after hearing Sacred Worlds, there's just so much depth to it.

In my opinion, WoT has more different parts, while SW has only a few really different parts, but these are varied almost each time they're played. And that's the artistically more complex thing to do.

Take off yer rose-tinted glasses, and see through unbiased eyes, that WOT is superior!
