I know it's usually rude to ask this as the thread-starter, but could someone sticky this, maybe renaming it to "Fix of beeping on Curse My Name 2:50 - 3:33" or something similarly descriptive?

Quite a few people might be wanting a fix but not seeing the thread.

Only until there's an official fix, of course.

It's in the US version too. :( Seriously, that is really intrusive. Audacity time!

What do you think an official fix would be? True they could print new CDs and then everyone would have to buy a new one. I bet that NB would like that. ;-)

Keep in mind that I am posting this in a non-official capacity. :-P

A NB employee just confirmed they will upload a fixed version to the download content. That is what I call a fix. *shrugs*

With that, there is no necessity of pinning this anymore.

I am very sad for those mistakes on the album, great band with so much creativity in the 21st century, when it should be all the great work, this happens, I do not know why not a little more important, it is obvious that they were to hurry the job :? .. . But it will not ruin my point of view the album :D

There's a beep in Under the Ice???.... Where would this imaginary beep be?

You're right, it is imaginary

Under the Ice? *re-rips the CD in lossless to listen to that once more* ... an error on ANatO? I would deny that, but let me check.

OH THE GODS, YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THAT TINY VOCAL RESONANCE? It's even almost perfectly in-tune! And people call ME too audiophile? That's totally within what people call "flawless".

Edit: I wanted to add the timing, but it really takes a while... ah, got it. 3:08, similar ones at the "en" on "rotten" at the other places where it appears the *second* time in the chorus. Seriously, if any of those people tell me *I* complain too much about record quality, I'll label them insane.

But maybe they were totally desperate to find a flaw on ANatO. I wish the new one were on that level of perfect sound -- then again, with a real orchestra (which does sound more epic and powerful indeed), it's a lot harder to achieve that.

I am almost happy that I found this thread, I was considering that I am crazy. I got 6 versions of this album trying to avoid this freaking noise! I am 25 years old and my audition is not good but this beep is killing me since I love this song but I always have to take off my earphones at 2:50!

I can't be bothered to read every post in this thread, but I hear that high 'beeping' sound, and I have deduced that it is a cymbal. The high pitch is created by all the instruments clashing together, or something, maybe because of compression. I never noticed it before, but now, thanks to you fuckers, I will always hear it. -_-

No, thanks to whoever fucked up at NB or BG's production team.

Uhg, can someone do a "for dummies" version on how to fix it, now that I notice this beep I want to fix it, but only problem is I have the intelligence of a rock when it comes to audio stuff so I have no idea what the OP is saying. I got audacity and the plugin as described in the OP, but I have no idea what to do now, been looking around the program and I am completely confused.

The beep can actually be edited out using Audacity (audio-editing freeware), along with the Equalization plugin (eqcustom.ny) (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/nyquistplugins). Once you have these 2 things, just open the track in Audacity (mp3 format) and select the section with the beep (about 2:50.6-3:33.9) and select Equalization (one-band customizable) from the Effect menu. Set it at -34 dB, 15624 Hz, and width 0.1 octave, then just click OK. Tada! The beep is gone, the song sounds great. Hope this helps.
I posted this comment on someone's Amazon review. Don't know how it can be explained clearer, so I hope this helps. To target the area, just zoom in a lot.

You know what's even worse than the beep in Curse My Name? Hearing it clearly enough in 2010 that that part of the song was nearly unlistenable, and then re-ripping the song 7 years later and realizing you're not sure if you're even hearing it at all.  Apparently I've managed to kill the high end of my hearing since then. Either that or I just can't differentiate it from the tinnitus...

Oh good, turns out it was just the headphones I was using. Guess they don't really produce frequencies that high. Turns out the beep is just as horrible as I remember.

Maybe one day we"ll get a re-released version of ATEOT album... Its still one of my favourite BG albums with a genius songwriting so it will be a shame to have it with this bug on it...
