First post! I should say first off that I'm only a recent BG convert - a friend of mine let me listen to NiME ~4-5 months ago, and at first I wasn't sure if I was awake or dreaming - it was THAT good. I'm not kidding guys (and it's common knowledge) - this album is a F*CKING MASTERPIECE. Soon after, I heard a couple other songs through Reddit/YouTube, and I bought the boxed set without any hesitation. Fast forward to today, I've now listened to just about everything you have to offer (rarities aside), and I just have to say you've become my favorite band of all time - I only wish I found you guys a decade ago... I hope to everything that's holy that I can see you live someday (I live in upstate NY, but I'd make a trip down to the city in a heartbeat), but in the meantime, I'll keep listening to what I have over and over again.

Back to the topic at hand - it's tough to give a top 10 list, but here's my best attempt:

1. Nightfall in Middle-Earth (I can't take an individual song - the entire album is one song to me)
2. Sacred Worlds (This song is incredible - anyone who says "New Blind Guardian" isn't as good as "Old" clearly hasn't heard this song, and they clearly have no right to talk about anything)
3. And the Story Ends (As an ending to another great album, this song is perfect... as a normal song that could potentially appear anywhere on an album, it's also pretty damn perfect)
4. Battlefield (This song puts chills up my back - I typically listen to it while gaming, it just seems to fit any fighting-related game perfect)
5. A Past and Future Secret (One of the most fun songs to sing along to that I've ever heard)
6. The Bards Song (Another song that's fun to sing along to - I love watching live versions and seeing the crowd screaming the lyrics)
7. Under the Ice (I feel like this song is incredibly underrated as far as "hits" go, but it's great)
8. Imaginations From the Other Side (This one is a driving song - I'm usually listening to it at MAX volume, singing along the entire time)
9. Welcome to Dying (Another really good gaming song, expresses my feelings while completely stomping people in FPS games...)
10. I'm Alive (See previous point - this one expresses feelings of being alive in games while others aren't...)

You might notice it's from Imaginations on - that's not to say I didn't enjoy the first 2 albums, it's just that it's only a top 10... I should also mention it's really hard to pick songs off of NiME individually - I feel like I'm cheating in listing it as an entire album, but you're just going to have to deal with it...

I still need to listen more BtRM, so really can't judge those songs yet.
Currently it will be something like this:
01. Lost in the Twilight Hall
02. Majesty
03. A Past and Future Secret
04. The Bard's Song (Forgotten Tales)
05. Another Holy War
06. Welcome to Dying
07. Time What is Time
08. And Then There Was Silence
09. Wheel of Time
10. Black Chamber

And some I did consider but didn't make it:
Wizard's Crown
The Last Candle
Run for the Night
Mirror Mirror
Sadly Sings Destiny
The Maiden and the Minstrel Knight
Skalds and Shadows
Banish From Sanctuary
To France
And the Story Ends

EDIT:
Kinda matches pingu53's list ; )

wow, I joined this forum 14 years ago. The earth is still round,
Suddenly I'm 32 instead of 18 y.o. and I still listen to some BG.
I dunno what exact BG tracks I listened back then.

But my current fave/Top-10 songs (chronologically):
(If I would never listen to BG again, except for 10 songs,
I would choose those as a last wish)

1. Banish From Sanctuary
2. The Last Candle
3. Time What Is Time
4. Theater of Pain
5. Somewhere Far Beyond (bagpipe is a plus)
6. Imaginations from the Other side
7. A Past and Future Secret
8. Nightfall
9. Thorn
10. And Then There Was Silence

These stand my test of time and get to my hall of fame. It's always subjective issue and we post about our fave and not the "best" necessarily. I have no personal criteria for favorites, except for past experiences and attachments to particular situations throughout the 6 times I've seen BG live so far. And also what each of these songs remind me of. And what special story every of these songs elicits to my memory.

Cheers folks, guard the flame
Carpe Diem

Hadn't seen this thread yet:

Lost In The Twilight Hall
The Bard's Song - The Hobbit
Banish From Sanctuary
The Last Candle
Born In A Mourning Hall
Bright Eyes
Imaginations From The Other Side
Mordred's Song
Wizard's Crown
Time What Is Time

That's really hard, I couldn't narrow it down! Traveler In Time should be in there.

That's hard... Maybe like this...

1. Follow the Blind
2. Lost in the Twilight Hall
3. Blood Tears
4. Born in a Mourning Hall
5. Time what is Time
6. Traveler in Time
7. Journey through the Dark
8. Somewhere far Beyond
9. Precious Jerusalem
10. Prophecies

Hellish decision...
Follow the blind
Your journey, your last hope, it can begin
These passing dreams were real no fantasy
There are more things than we know
Come take my hand

It really is impossible, isn't it? As soon as I finished my list, I thought of like ten more I wanted to add.

Imagine trying to rank ALL 100+ of their songs. That'd be an endeavor.

How about Top 20? Seems quite a bit easier, and then you can include a descent 20 not leaving out anything TOO important.
