Sleeping is such a waste of time.

A slight call afar is tempting me, like a whisper sweet or an awful scream; I cannot ignore what I've always been, I'm leaving again - one last time? in my little kingdom I can be what I really wanted to be... The wanderer

if i nap in the afternoon it messes up my night sleep, and i always wake up beat from it. still, it's tempting to have one every now and again.

You wouldn't fucking believe the ridiculous times I sleep.

And by "times" I mean both the amounts of hours I put into sleeping and the times of day I spend asleep.

And I fucking hate it. I really wish I could sleep less.

But John came fifth, and won a toaster.

Actually.. I believe there have been several studies into the subject that state that sleeping for about 30-60 minutes after your lunch helps you being more productive over the entire day and it actually causes you to need less sleep on the whole..

So: if sleep is a waste of time, make sure you don't miss your afternoon nap, as it will save you on total sleeping hours.

it has been integrated parts in a japanese workday since years. most offices and factories have a special "relaxing/sleeping" area to increase productivity.
In spain a siësta during midday has been customary for ages now..

And it works too, apparently, as Spain is one of the few southern European countries not affected by the European debt crisis.

Finncredible afternoon naps are those that you take after drinking a bottle of vodka.

And what comes to the question... Usually I don't take them since I'm usually more tired afterwards than before. The last weekend though, I spent mostly sleeping since I've been having a flu.

I used to sleep during the afternoon, it's an indicator of a bad sleeping rhythm

No, it isn't. Siesta's are not an indicator of a bad sleeping rythm.

the variation in sleeping habbits from person to person can be huge. some people may require 10+ hours of sleep every day while others may only need 4 or 5.
any kind of generalization would be wrong.
even the one most societies us use as a matter of daily routine. you know, wake up in the morning and go to work all day and then sleep at night.

because for YOU a daytime nap is not required.. still does not indicate a bad sleeping rhythm.

I myself just finished a nice nap, and I feel reborn

You cannot say that a nap is good or pad rhythm per se. If you live a live where you work for five days a week and party for two days, then the extra naps required on Saturday and Sunday would indeed be a sign of a bad rhythm. But if you have a constant rhythm, sleep 6-7 hours at night and take a 30 minute nap in between, then it's a completely healthy thing.

Besides, it depends on age too. Andreas is still a youngster who can go through live with little sleep. Trust me, that'll change after your 25th birthday. 8)

actually, the older you get the amount of sleep you need every day grows smaller.
