The avatar file size should be bigger

#1 Post by Mackasfour » 26 Aug 2009 13:22

I got a whole slew of good avvies but some just exceed the miniscule 20kb limit

I agree, hell no. Big avatars just turn the forum into a mess. You could just use a software to reduce the image's size.

20 kb should be enough for any 100x100 pixels image.
You charge each other for the time and breath it takes to say 'good morning',
But the truth is slowly dawning -- things are getting out of hand,
We all pursue our shattered dreams along the roads to our own ruin --
Watch our empires sink and wash away like castles made of sand.
And so cast off the lies that are your lives and find the truth within.

Agreed. Maybe you can try different formats? That influences the amount of kb as well :)

I find myself agreeing.

Flash animations aren't possible as avatars anyway.

You can try to fit the LotR trilogy in an animated gif, though. :P But I'm afraid that it won't fit in the maximum 20 kb.

I think it was better before, when there were no avatars...
But maybe it's just because I haven't got one yet..!
Check out our band, Sentry Ward:
You can hear our first complete song here: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... ID=9895744
If you liked it, please take the time to create a listener's account and rate. This song is also available for a free download :)

You can also find us on facebook. The page is still unfinished, but you can read a few stuff about the band and stay easily tuned for what's to come!

The whole album will soon be ready. It's going to be legen -wait for it- dary! (hopefully) :)

I'm not talking animated gifs, some pics do exceed it by a little bit, I don't want a freakin' huge avvie.

Then save those images with a bit more JPEG compression.
