I'm sooo over Facebook! Was fun initially, and I have caught up with a few long-lost friends thanks to it, but I rarely use it anymore.

Feel free to add me:

Cowboy

Cannot wait for Dragonforce MONDAY!! And Soundwave tixx go on sale for Brisbane on Thursday - IN THIS MOMENT, LACUNA COIL, NiN, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God, Devildriver, Anberlin, In Flames, Alkaline Trio, Funeral for a friend, unearth, everytime I die. Its gonna be huge.

I really love the new In This Moment CD. Everyone says they are mediocre metalcore, but their new disc is anything but! Its much more melodic than their debut. Plus, the lead singer is a babe - really hope to meet her at Soundwave :P

DRAGONFORCE!!!

Absolutely amazing gig - I was smiling and fist-pumping and shouting the whole way through.

Highlights for me were SOLDIERS OF THE WASTELAND, and the encores of FIRE AND FLAMES and VALLEY OF THE DAMNED.

Really good value for money too - they played for almost 2 hours! The sound quality wasn't fantastic, but the energy of the band made up for it. They genuinely looked like they were having a ball.

Managed to capture some pictures and a few short videos on my new video camera.

Photos on my Facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=3 ... =510334363

And some video footage - couldnt get much as security was pretty strict.

I didnt find the sound quality that good either Cowboys. Although at the Metro I was right up the back in front of the bar & was thinking that it may have been better closer to stage. Still enjoyed it though but wouldn,t be a band i,d go see again. Can relate to Bard 88 when it comes to Dragonforce! Good band in small doses!!!
Anyway now onto Def Leppard & Cheap Trick next wednesday :D :D
Small chance that I might bring out the Aussie Bogan in me & make an appearance at the Coogee Bay Hotel on saturday for The Angels & Rose Tattoo. At least if the concert,s shit then I can go to the bistro & get the same for dessert!! That story still makes me laugh

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Nice one Stu.

Yeah that story grossed me out. They seriously need to hire a PR firm to fix this mess, because the way they have handled it has been outrageous.

No gigs on the horizon for a while for me! SOUNDWAVE next year is it for me - really hope to meet In This Moment and Lacuna Coil.

Although this is tempting....

Official Press release

SCORPION ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS

DEATH ANGEL & ARMORED SAINT AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2009

Two of Metal’s Most Iconic Bands Come Together For Debut Australian Tour Death Angel and Armored Saint are Icons of Thrash and Metal. They were there at the start and despite experiencing enough trials and tibulations that would put most bands out of commission forever, they are still powering away in metal’s modern age.

Death Angel’s 1987 debut album ‘The Ultra Violence’ sold 40 000 copies in its first 4 months paving the way for the Thrash movement to hit the mainstream in a way that opened the floodgates for an entire genre to rise to the top of the musical food chain for the remainder of the decade.

The recent resurgence of thrash among so many of todays younger bands owes much of its popularity to the comebacks of the masters themselves! Death Angel’s began in 2004 with their release of ‘The Art Of Dying’ after playing a cancer benefit show for Testament’s Chuck Billy (another of Thrash’s biggest comeback stories) and continues with their thrashtastic 2008 effort, Killing Season.

Armored Saint are back in top form once more with the return of one of metal’s most dynamic vocalists, John Bush after his time away fronting Anthrax. With John at the helm and the legendary bassist Joey Vera by his side, its a very good time to be a fan of The Saint!

In 2009 both bands will head to Australia for the very first time in either of their careers to play for their fans across the entire nation! With both bands crossing the generational gap, this tour will see metal fans young an old come out to experience a night of thrash just like it was 1985!!

Do not miss this!!

OFF TO SEE DEF LEPPARD TOMORROW NIGHT!!

Wasn't going due to lack of cashy money, but the fiancee won tickets from TripleM!!

She actually has to compete against 6 other people saturday arvo in a guitar hero 3 play-off. All 5 runners-up get 2 tickets to the concert that night plus a copy of GH3 for the 360, and the winner gets all that (FRONT ROW tickets though) PLUS gets to go backstage and meet def leppard (and play guitar hero with them ).

Was one of those "25 words of less" things and she had to say why she wanted to play guitar hero with def leppard. She wrote that she was sick of beating me at it all the time and needed someone else to play :P

So yeah - whatever happens, I'll be seeing DEF LEPPARD TOMORROW NIGHT!!

SHE WON!!

So we got to meet the drummer Rick Allen and the guitarist Phil Collen. Got a picture of us with them both, and they signed a copy of the tour programme for me :D

Then she played guitar hero against the two of them (Rick did the strumming, Phil did the buttons) and beat them too. HAHA.

Lots of photos and video.

Oh, and the concert was pretty rad too :)

I have now finished uni, so its safe to say ill be omn here more often!! no mor euni til late february!!!!!!!!!

My brother went to Def Leppard, said it was good. Your a lucky fucker Dallas!!!! I was contemplating dragonforce, but i've already seen them twice so the hunger and desire to see them wasnt as strong, especially since i havent heard their new album. One thing i didnt doubt tho was that they would put on a good show, they always do. So much energy and such a great singer.

Gigs on the horizon for me only include FULL METAL BANQUET in Sydney this weekend, thats if i can get off work. It satrts at 2pm at the LEWISHAM hotel and bands playing include Darker Half, Eyefear and Sobrusion, all good power metal bands!!

Hey stormster - glad to here uni is finished. Hope you had a good year :-D

Full Metal Banquet looks good - I haven't had a chance to see Eyefear since Guardian :P

Nothing I'm keen on seeing now until Soundwave in February. And damn that is going to be wicked!

Apparently Yngwie Malmsteen wants to tour down here next year - if Ripper Owens is part of the touring band I might try and check that out.

Life again in the thread :D :D :D :D :D
Still debating whether to honour a comittment to my now living overseas brother & attend Lynch Mob/ Faster Pussycat at the Metro next thursday! Working long hours at the moment & trying to get as much overtime as possible to pay off credit cards that became big from to much travelling!!!!
BTW Cowboys, I,ll be in Brisbane & Gold Coast next year (beginning of May) for the Essendon game (sat may 2 at the GABBA). Pretty sure you,ll be busy with marriage, babies etc but would be great if you could find the time to catch up. fly into the Gold coast on the fri & leave on the tues. Have to travel into Brisbane for the footy but apart from that, my time in both locations is open to whatever happens!!!
Malmsteen tour again eh   Think that guy doesnt know when to die!! Remember speaking to Lord Tim after a Dungeon gig in Bexley many years ago (they had recently supported Malmsteen) & said that he was an absolute prick!

Yeah Ive heard from numerous sources that Yngwie is a total wanker :p

But the songs I've heard off the new album are good. REALLY good. Tempted to buy it, but the cheapest I've seen it is $30.

Footy in May sounds good Stuey!!! Wedding is a long way off yet, and bub will be a few months old by then so will hopefully be a bit less of a handful.

I'm sure I'll be able to get a leave pass for a few hours at least :D

Mate of mine is certain to go to it so good chance i,ll be there as well! Currently working long long hours mon-fri so therefore missed Lynch Mob / Faster Pussycat recently. Havent informed my brother yet, but certain he wont be happy!!! Anyone on here go :?:
Also Cowboys, the Essendon game at the GABBA next year could be a massive event! Dustin Fletcher currently sits on 294 games, so therefore if he plays every game from round 1, he will hit the magical 300 in Brissy! That means the match would be a celebration regardless of the result!! Be prepared to ask the missus for a longer "leave pass"!

Sounds good stuey - should be a game to remember if the cards do fall that way!

Apparently Lynch Mob/FP was a good show. They got a crowd of approx 500 in Sydney. The Brisbane show was a bit anti-climactic though - George Lynch was feeling a bit ill apparently. Kinda good I didn't go in a way, I guess.

I've had a few listens to the new Cradle of Filth CD - pretty damn good actually.

REALLY digging this Austrian power metal band called "Serenity" at the moment - kinda similar to Sonata Arctica.

Also want to try and track down the debut album of a Brazilian metal outfit by the name of MAGICIAN. Debut cd produced by Kai and Dirk from GAMMA RAY, and its been receiving very favourable reviews.

New Edguy is not bad - not brilliant, but not bad.

The edition I got comes with a bonus live CD from a gig in LA, which is bloody awesome though!!

You guys hear that PAUL DIANNO is touring Australia May/June next year? Interesting!

Im definately going Dianno.

What would you rate better, Edguy's Rocket Ride or this new one. And out of 10 what would you rate Rocket Ride. Rocket Ride was okay, but other edguy albums are heaps better.

Hmmm *thinks* I would rate the new edguy marginally higher than Rocket Ride, and I'd probably give Rocket Ride a 6.5 so I'd give the newest a 7.

But like you, I much rather the earlier stuff!!

So, what tours do people want from the new year?

I would like to see any of the following grace our fine shores:

EDGUY
After Forever
Epica
Within Temptation
Kamelot
In This Moment
Sonic Syndicate
Trans Siberian Orchestra
Rob Zombie

And from the seen-them-but-want-to-see-them-again list:
Iced Earth
Gamma Ray
and of course Blind Guardian but that ain't gonna happen.

I've heard from multiple sources that Edguy WANT to come to Australia this year.

They have a pretty hectic tour calendar this year though so they may not be able to slot us in. Oh well, I will continue to hope!!

Why haven t u seen them dude? Unlike me , you knew about them on the Mandrake tour and were over 18 come the Hellfire Club tour.. But yes, I'D LOVE EDGUY!! I'd probably travel. I'd LOVE to see Gamma Ray again, or their drummer's band, FREEDOM CALL. Fuck i love freedom call. I'd also like to see MANOWAR and ICED EARTH. I want megadeth to come back too, fucking awesome band that. I'd love to see GRIM REAPER reform and tour, fucking digging them right about now. Would love to see STRYPER!!

Think you,ll find Stormster that Cowboys hasnt seen Edguy because when they were last here in 2004 (i believe!), Dallas was in Europe at the same time banging his head away at metal festivals everywhere! Forgot to mention, Avantasia is the band I most want to see, & just to keep Tommy busy, Edguy as well!! Wouldnt mind Sonata Arctica also.

Stuey is absolutely right stormster - in fact, the night in 2004 that Edguy was playing in Brisbane I was in their home country of Germany! aaaah the irony.

My son hasn't entered the world yet - was due last sunday but the little bugger isn't ready to enter the big bad world obviously!

I'm on 2 months long service leave from work at the moment. Loving it :D

Soundwave next Sunday! Lacuna Coil!!

Little boy is going well - hard to believe he is 6 weeks old already! Bought him a cute little AC/DC outfit ("For Those About To Rock" and it has a baby's cradle on it haha).

Back at work today, after 2 months off. Bored already :P

Certainly is quiet on the tours front for me. havent been to a gig since Def Leppard last november!! Hence why I probably never post on here at the moment! Promise to pop up occasionally though.

The great man ALICE COOPER will be touring again in August/September. Seen him live a few times over the years and he always puts on a great show, so I may check him out again if nothing better comes along :)

JANE'S ADDICTION are going to be coming out for Splendour in the Grass, and are doing sideshows around the country too. Never really got into them that much, so $90 tickets are far too steep for me to consider that one!
