Big Bang Theory

#1 Post by Cerbere » 10 Oct 2010 03:29

Does anyone else watch this show? I was introduced to it a few days ago and absolutely love it. I've watched the entire first season so far and plan to watch more. The only thing I think is missing from the show is Dungeons and Dragons or a roleplaying game of the like.

Great show. I'm glad they moved to Thursday because on Monday it would interfere with American Pickers, and I can't miss Pickers or Pawn Stars.

Certainly my favourite sitcom at the moment. The cast is great but I'll have to add that Jim Parsons is frigging brilliant as Sheldon Cooper.

its good fun but the laugh track is very annoying

and the acting is pretty formulaic

sheldon is amazing but leonard is a mediocre character thats played mediocrely

absolutely loved the age of conan episodes

the leonard - petty stuff is lame tho

Bah. When it comes to pure geekiness, Friends only got Ross. The Big Bang Theory has much more awesome geekiness to it!

friends was a boring piece of shite with not a single character that I didn't abhor. The first season of tbbt was so new and weird and funny, I watched 8 episodes in a row.

I agree, Friends was teh most boring piece of television since the beginning of television.
Never could understand why people loved it because it had no content at all and was in no way funny at any point.

i don't like TBBT that much - that's one reason why i haven't watched many episodes, yet
some episodes feature nice elements but it's a rather mediocre show
but i can't deny that it could very well be a show some might love

EDIT: friends = best show e-e-ever

they are hilarious. I think it's a lot better than friends (which is also very good)

This has turned into Friends vs. Big Bang Theory topic?

I'll say I like them both, but it's British humor that knocks me over. Things like Only Fools and Horses or Red Dwarf.

If not my favorite, than definitely one of my favorite shows of all time. Great show!

And I have to agree that Leonard is a bit annoying, and not that interesting of a character, but Sheldon is owning the show anyway. :)

Well, I have to mention Only Fools and Horses, Blackadder and Men Behaving Badly... it's hard to pick a favorite show actually.

I like that series a lot, and the writing only seems to get better all the time. Either that or I´m easier to please all of a sudden :)

Reminds me of That 70´s Show, although I don´t know quite why yet.

I love it, one of the best sitcoms I've seen.

BTW, I don't think its really comparable to Friends, that would be more for shows like HIMYM.

In Friends Ross is the closest character that could be considered geeky, but even then its still so far removed from the gang at BBT as Ross doesn't partake in any of the activities Sheldon, Leonard, Raj and Howard do, he just happens have a Phd and talks a lot about dinosaurs but that's about it. There's nothing socially awkward with him as a whole.

Bazinga! I just love the tv series, though not a lot of people appreciate it. They say that one of its major drawbacks is the type of canned laughter it uses that dictates right about the time that you are supposed to take a laugh at it. I like Raj's character which is again one of those sort of "sideline" characters that are really significant to the entirety with it playing an important role to how the whole thing goes about.

I love the laugh track. Its just so embedded with sitcoms in general that watching it without it would make the show lose some of its charm. Some people dislike the latter seasons of the show, starting from the 3rd or 4th, bcause they feel the show diverged from its orginal intent which was to focus on the nerdiness of the 4 friends. Latter seasons focus much more on the relationship the characters have with the girls.
