My mother in law is a Balrog, and I'm telling you, she has wings!

Fail. The movie cannot be considered as a proof to any such in-depth lore questions.Raven_Wraith wrote:Yes, Balrogs do have wings, watch the scene in LOTR 1 when the fellowship is in the mines of moria, and the balrog chases them through the city, you'll see

Read THIS. Not only does it prove that yes, Balrogs do have wings, it is also a genuinely well written and intelligent article that sheds some light on the development of Tolkien's Legendarium.

They say that there's a broken light for every heart on Broadway.
They say that life's a game, then they take the board away.
They give you masks and costumes and an outline of the story
Then leave you all to improvise their vicious cabaret...
Still the goddamn Batman.

J.R.R. Tolkien, note written on the back of a page of the fair copy manuscript of 'Lothlorien', (can be found in The History of Middle-earth, Vol VII, p. 236):
Also remember that Balrogs are essentially Maiar trained in the Path of Melkor the Holy Angel, and that thus, Saruman has the potential of becoming a Balrog. I think the achievement of the glorious City of Isengard should attest to the fact that this potential, indeed, has been realized.
Now ask yourself, does Saruman have wings? Course he does, he's one of the Istari after all. That's just as sure a fact as Gandalf having a funny hat.Could not the Balrog be Saruman? Make battle on Bridge be between Gandalf and Saruman?

If the chicken is a Balrog and Saruman fought Gandalf on the Bridge of Kazadum, does that mean that Saruman is also a chicken? He did run when the Ents attacked...Palantyre wrote:wat
