the answer lies with one beautiful animal...the ostrich. They run quite fast, they also have wings but cannot fly, same with penguins, as a matter of fact there's many flightless birds. Well you may say "they can sort of fly" but I bet they couldn't get off the ground after battling Gandalf or Glor...

Yes you should definetely read Martin's books, he is an excellent writer. A song of ice and fire is one of the best fantasy series, you should start with A game of thrones, also you might try Armagedon Rag which is alse quite good.

I've read it a long time ago. It's not a bad book, but I've read better, still Kay is one of the best fantasy writers, though I'm not a big fan of him. I just can't get into his characters, I usually hate them more than I like them.

Hm... fine, I agree, they passed over hithlum, that doesn't mean they were flying, and also I believe that Ungoliant at that moment was more powerful than Morgoth, but that he knew help is on the way. Also I do not even take silmarillion literaly at least not before the appearance of the sun and moo...

Argh, you forget one thing, tunnels underground, c'mmon what do you think they were flying all their way from angband, that distance is a bit too much even to fly over it. I think there were many underground tunnels near Lammoth, and that Balrogs sprang out of ground practicaly, they even probably k...

What reduced space??? Try to read the pharagraph about the bridge of khazad dum again. I'll just post a couple of quotes. They peered out. Before them was another cavernous hall. It was loftier and far longer than the one in which they had slept. They were near its eastern end; westward it ran away ...

Hey, have you ever read in Tolkien's book that balrog can fly. Even in the battle of Gondolin balrogs were riding dragons. Also how the hell could both Gandalf and esp. Glorfinder kill balrogs if they can fly, can you imagine what advantage a flying creature has over the one on the earth. Why would ...

Finwe, how was there not enough space to fly, the room where Bridge of Khazad-dum is huge if I'm not wrong. Balrog is the size of a large human, surely not taller than 2,30 meters. Also why he didn't fly when he was fighting with Gandalf at Zirak Zigil. Also note that balrogs dwelled underground in ...

I voted No, because I believe that Balrogs don't have wings at least no phyisical form of wings. First proof is, Balrogs can't fly, why would they have wings if they can't fly. If anybody here thinks that balrogs can fly, there are two cases where balrogs were killed by falling from a mountain, firs...
