Re: Setlist discussion for 2015

Would you believe that the band intended not to play Valhalla at this show, could be the first such case in a long time. But crazy polish fans demanded and got it. I'm sick of this song.

Been to the Vienna show yesterday and now I'm pretty sure - I've never seen Hansi in better shape. He nailed all the screams, he pulled many of the harsh vocals (remember a couple of years ago he frequently did the "How can I run, how can I hide"-part in Into the storm an octave lower? not anymore),...

Pah, when they were in Vienna in 2006 we got all ballads because Fred was sick.

Not exactly seeing these old gems and surprising songs they've mentioned. All these setlists are pretty similar with three or so songs switching out for the three or so other stock songs. :( I thought the same. The Krefeld-gig raised my expectations as the setlist was really "different" from the la...

Re: Does the bards meet with fans after a show?!

I think it also depends on the venue - at the larger venue in Vienna I haven't seen them yet after the show. Though I also have to admit that I didn't search for them either. At a smaller venue in Brno the whole band spent time hanging out there after the show. Hansi was besieged, so I had time to t...

Indeed, the setlist is "revolutionary" in the sense that the "staple" songs have become much rarer - only Nightfall, Imaginations (, maybe Bright Eyes) and the "big three" Bard's Song, Valhalla and Mirror Mirror. And that's definitely a good thing. That they play four songs from the new album is gre...

Disappointed with the setlist or with the uploaded performances? The performance of Prophecies seems really good to me. The setlist is definitely an improvement to earlier shows but I'm disappointed as well that theres not a single song off Opera.

I can partially relate to the opinions voiced in that interview - of course you take away some "power" when adding additional layers. But I was wondering - did Blind Guardian lose some fame in Japan/eastern Asia in the last years? The ATEOT-tour didn't take them to Japan at all ... wouldn't come as a big surprise, as trends over there come and go quite fast - still somehow disappointing.
