They'll be in Ireland this September for Dublin Doom Days (also featuring Urfaust, Solstice, The Wounded Kings, Revelation, Pantheist and more... https://www.facebook.com/events/351717778186718/ ) and are organising some more European dates for around that time. if you have a chance to see them, don...

Argus

Any fans here of this Pennsylvanian bunch? They've released two albums to date of dark, powerful and energetic riff-driven Metal. Really, really excellent stuff. If you enjoy Lizzy, Maiden, Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass or Slough Feg you will love Argus. Check this out for a sample: http://www.youtu...

Re: Gotta love good NWOBHM.

Volture are good, but they're obviously not NWOBHM as they're American and a new-ish band. Yes, I am (and was) aware they are not literally part of the NWOBHM phenomenon. However the acronym in question has, to my knowledge, also been used simply as a genre moniker for bands that sound like that, w...

Re: Gotta love good NWOBHM.

I managed to miss some bands last year. And there were some that I have no idea whether I saw them or not. I blame vodka.

Still, I managed to see (and remember) Crimson Glory so that was good.

Those of you who'll be there this year, I envy you sooooo much. Enjoy it!

Re: What has happened here?

No, because they knew you'd be back eventually :P Well, I'd daresay that the downtime of the forum is due to being a no-news time for the band (a greatest hits doesn't draw THAT MUCH attention) added to the explosion in popularity of social networks. Forums tend to suffer from that.... Hehe... I'll...

What has happened here?

A decade ago or so, this was a thriving community. Now I see posts from way back still on the first page.

I've only popped in here a handful of times over the past 7 or 8 years, but was a regular poster before that.

Did everyone leave because they missed me so much?

They're all Heavy Metal. As simple as that. Pagan Altar, Saracen, early Maiden, Persian Risk, Desolation Angels, Witchfinder General, Bleak House, Venom, Mendes Pray, Arc, Holocaust, Blitzkrieg... all bands that would span different subgenres, yet they're all part of the NWOBHM. It is not a genre. E...

Re: Doom metal

is Angle Witch considered doom? I consider them NWOBHM and I am right. Of course they were a part of the NWOBHM. And no, they're no Doom band (presuming you mean Angel Witch). Just to get one thing straight - there is no such genre as NWOBHM. It was a movement and a scene, but not a genre as many b...

OLD SEASON - Epic Metal from Ireland

Some of you might already know the band from their 'Volume One' release of a few years back, and through the fact that Frank from Mourning Beloveth handles their vocals. Due to some unfortunate and unavoidable internal issues, they were unable to capitalise on the good reception that 'Volume One' re...
