Blind Guardian Word Count

I've been playing a game with my girlfriend, where we choose one word and each person should come up, in turns, with a different song that contains it. She got angry at me when we played with the word "Light", as almost every song in NiME has it (and many other BG songs), and she said using it is li...

Hebrew in BtRM

I noticed with some surprise the use of some Hebrew words in The Ninth Wave: Down to the Abaddon Will you walk with me to the Sheol ? Good or bad we all meet the Abaddon and later "Belial" If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time they use Hebrew words in a song. I suppose it's to give some extra ...

Re: BTRM is probably their best

I tend to agree about BtRM being their best (or somewhere at the top). One of the things I really like about it is that it sheds new light on the previous albums. I agree that it makes AtEoT seem weak in a way (even though it's quite awesome), but mainly it seems to explain ATitM, and make it seem b...

Well, if more people on powermetal reddit actually care about the musical content of BG's work we would probably have some sort of answer. With that said, Hansi did hint towards the lyrics having intentional ties with older songs from different albums (Straight Trough the Mirror and Wait for an Ans...

This BtRM part sounds like that other song...

Blind Guardian don't always make completely original melodies (if something will sound perfect, they won't dump it just because it sounds like some line from another song). Some short parts in BtRM remind me of other songs, some of them I can't put my finger on. So I thought of opening this thread, ...

I don't think it's the same melody. Well, that's how they make demos :P you could call the different lyrics the "demo" lyrics, something wrote just to have an idea of how the vocal line goes, until they write the real lyrics. Those of you who have read the Silmarillion surely have wondered at some point: how come Blind Guardian chose to write a song about such a minor part of Beren and Luthien's epic story (the song she sings for Mandos near the end)?..
