Re: Blind Guardian LP10
I don't mind them taking 4 years between releases... (and from august 2010 to early (february/march) 2015 is only about half a year longer than "usual"). They've been consistantly producing great albums, with At The Edge Of Time they even delivered an epic masterpiece in my opinion, in part thanks ...

Re: production of albums old and new
In the making-of videos of ATEOT the band told us that we can hear only the natural recorded sound of the drums. André said that this way guitars also sound better. Well, guitars may sound better than on ATITM but I really don't like the drums. I mean, listen to this Savage Circus track with Thomen...

Re: production of albums old and new
IFtoS. The drum sound on it is just perfect. It has a great feel to it. ANATO has a great atmosphere, but is sadly let down by the burying of the rhythm guitar and bass. I like the sound of the past two albums, but they aren't quite as perfect and Imaginations, especially when you stop to consider t...

The Valhalla rerecording sounds great. The remixes IDK about, it's impossible to really hear the new changes. Mirror Mirror's sample, in particular, sounds a mess because of that ridiculous bitrate.

Hmm, really? It didn't feel too brickwalled to me. I just remember everyone talking about the chiming noises. I don't know why people compress songs to shit like that. Even when it doesn't clip, they remove all dynamics from the song, which is maddening when the mixing engineer put lots of time into...

My last wish is that they wouldn't destroy the remixes by upping the volume levels (or whatever the proper term in English is) too high for the cd's to handle. I don't ever want to hear anything as horrible as Death Magnetic ever again... There's abso-fucking-lutely no reason to destroy recordings ...

Re: So, I had a BG related dream last night
BG had something to do with a dream of mine last night. I can remember one part, where I was playing a game and listening to a BG song, but the song isn't an actual BG song as far as I know. It was Hansi singing, with some riffs that Andre would write, and WoT-esque orchestration. It was really cool...

Explain Guardian's whole schtick to them, not just The Bard's Song. Explain that most of their lyrics come from Tolkien and other fantasy literature, and if anything are educational and can get you into reading. The Bard's Song seems just to be about bards, traveling musicians.

For me it would probably be Another Holy War or I'm Alive While yeah, those elements are all in the song, I still think it's a contender for the title. I'm Alive and Another Holy War are all more aggressive though. I agree I think I'm Alive and Another Holy War are more aggressive. BTW don't for fo...

BTW what do you people consider the most aggressive song of BG? Maybe Born In A Mourning Hall or I'm Alive... Born in a mourning hall? Of course opinions differ, but a song that starts out with such a happy singable major key lead-guitar, a mid-tempo soft harmonised chorus with no shouting (save "t...

Yeah, I'd say aggressive is the term for it. That's the thing with bands like Suffocation and such; The music may be decent, but a lot of times it's just brutal, it isn't aggressive. It leaves the music sounding kind of dull, I guess. Songs like I'm Alive or Born in a Mourning Hall have that aggress...

It's heavy, yeah. But to compare it with, say, Suffocation, seems something of a far stretch to be honest. Suffocation is heavy, indeed. I wasn't really comparing it with Suffocation, I don't listen to them. That type of death metal is heavier than this, but I'm not sure how to explain what I'm try...

So, I picked up IFTOS as an early Christmas gift yesterday, and while listening to it in the car, I noticed how heavy this thing is. I think the entire middle section of it is. Sacred Worlds up to Ride, and Voice in the Dark and Wheel of Time were easy to get into for me, but the rest of the songs took many listens to get into. Blind Guardian's stuff is like that, although I found IFTOS to be easy to get into.

I think I MAY know what you're talking about. If it isn't Dead Sound of Misery, then it MIGHT be Therion's Flesh of the Gods. I tried to download Fly, and got that song. It has Hansi singing, but aside from that doesn't sound like BG.

I myself love ANATO, but it isn't the best. It also doesn't sound GREAT, but it's alright. The rhythm guitar is WAY too far down in the mix.
