Re: Memories of a Time to Come

I hope the sound quality is on par with ATEOT, that is, without the horrible clipping found on most of their recent (last 15 years at least) albums.

Re: 2LP pic disc set - amazingly bad sound quality

Got the response from NB. They're sorry. They just listened to a copy of the vinyl and they think it sounds fine. I'm the only one of >1000 people who bought it who has complained, so either I've got two isolated bad copies, or my expectations of picture vinyl are too high. Well, I'm done with this....

Re: 2LP pic disc set - amazingly bad sound quality

I got the replacement copy of the 2LP set from amazon. It is also horrible sounding. The loud parts sound not terribly offensive (though micro-details are not revealed nearly to the extent that they are on the CD - this is not the case with good vinyl). The quiet parts sound very bad, as if a wind i...

Re: 2LP pic disc set - amazingly bad sound quality

Well, amazon.co.uk is about to send me a new copy - they aren't even asking for the old one back, due to the prohibitive shipping cost. I hope it proves NB correct in their assertion that I just got one isolated bad copy.

I wonder what NB's response will be if the new one is bad too.

Re: 2LP pic disc set - amazingly bad sound quality

I imagine we're not talking to the right people at NB. I remember a few years ago I sent an email to the Therion store to compliment them on the awesome sound of the Live Gothic records (dead quiet, amazing mastering, everything a vinylphile wants), and they responded about how happy Therion were th...

Re: 2LP pic disc set - amazingly bad sound quality

I got a response from Nuclear Blast. They said I'm the first person to complain about sound quality, so I must have gotten a bad copy. Please make my grievance to the online store from which it was purchased, they said. Given that both discs sound equally bad, I have a tough time believing that it's...

Re: 2LP pic disc set - amazingly bad sound quality

IMHO the NIME picture disc sounds much worse, see this topic That's a shame too. I just can't understand why the bards, or any band for that matter, would let this happen. I have ~200 records, and while some of them (recent metal albums mostly, though many of those are stellar sounding) are disappo...

Re: 2LP pic disc set - amazingly bad sound quality

what type of player are you using? How much did you spend on your receiver? Or your speakers? I think it's much more likely that people just don't understand how to get the most out of vinyl Edit; If you've used other vinyl and know the difference, then yeah, it might be an issue with the discs. So...

Re: 2LP pic disc set - amazingly bad sound quality

Has this issue been posted about already? Sounds like it's not news to you guys. I haven't had time to lurk much here lately. you should probably mail the record company about this,or have the person who sent the disc to you do it. can't think of anything else. you say your other discs sounds fine,...

2LP pic disc set - amazingly bad sound quality

Hey guys, I hate to say it because I love the band and I think the new album is one of their strongest, but the sound on the 2LP pic disc set is bad beyond any LP I've ever heard, pic disc or otherwise. It sounds like there is a fierce wind blowing behind the music, the whole way through. I know som...

Re: offical at the edge of time topic

So far I've only listened to it once. I'm amazed. The Bards are right back on top of their game, and I think this might be their best album yet. Certainly better than their last two, and I say this as a big fan of ANATO. The songwriting is epic, the arrangements are huge, and even the sound quality ...

Re: Strange Production Question

Might anyone know what sample rate Charlie produced the master in? The album was likely recorded in 24 or 32 bits, and 192 Khz, because from what I gather that is the standard these days with pro recording sound cards. The master would hopefully not be shrunk down too much from that for the convers...

Re: The old copyright thing again

I have said it before, and I will say it again: if the owners of sites like the Pirate Bay are to make millions, I don't see why the music industry shouldn't make their own alternative. I'd happily pay a monthly subscription-fee to a service that offers me the same amount of choice. I have no quibb...

Re: The old copyright thing again

First of all, nice of you to register. I welcome you to the slaughterhouse and hope your first post won't be your last. Thanks for the welcome. I have two tiny children, which means I won't be nearly as active as many users here, but I'll try to keep in touch. I'm very excited for the new album, an...

Re: The old copyright thing again

I've been an occasional lurker here for awhile and thought I'd finally register to respond with my two cents here - twenty days late, but whatever. :) And I'm not intending this to be a troll post, though in looking at it I can see that I use some strong statements. It happens to be a subject on whi...
