Re: Time, Where the Fuck is Time?

Bumped, as the release date is set to October 19th, in just a couple of weeks.

I'm psyched. Been playing the first album on repeat for the last couple of days.

Re: Themes for BG songs

IIRC, Lost in the Twilight Hall is about Gandalf's death/rebirth in The Lord of the Rings. The lyrics show no real evidence either for or against, but I'm sure I've heard it somewhere. Also, Bright Eyes being about the negative effects of video games seems a bit unlikely, considered that both André ...

Re: For those that like reading fiction

ASoIaF is great. To me, the last books were just as good as the first ones. "A Dance With Dragons" in particular stood out. They become increasingly complex, though: The number of characters keeps increasing, and the web of "who knows who"-connections becomes very intricrite. I think that's part of ...

Stratovarius?

Anyone a fan of them? I've heard the name mentioned here and there, so I thought I'd check 'em out. Started out listening to Episode on Spotify, thought it was fairly good. Where to go next for more/better in the same style?

Re: Memories of a Time to Come

This looks awesome. A bummer that loads of cool will only be available on the limited edition, though. Hope to obtain one. Also, isn't it sorta' strange that they have Ride into Obsession on the greatest hits album, but not Wheel of Time? Personally, my highlights from ATEOT would definitely include...

Re: Anyone know of a band that plays stuff like The Bards So

Well, Switzerland has 3-4 languages, who knows what is native and what not I literally lol'ed at that  @ Dent.... It's "Romansh" in English, and that's pretty much how the native speakers pronounce it, only in English spelling ;) Though dict.cc tells me that "Rhaeto-Romance" is also valid ...

Re: you prefer old or new Blind Guardian?

I'm a fan of their "middle" albums mostly - Tales, Somewhere Far Beyond, Imaginations and Nightfall, so I can't really vote. This. SfB, Imaginations and Nightfall has that enthusiastic feeling of a young band still trying their wings, while still being awesomely well written and produced (as oppose...

Re: Are Blind Guardian cd covers becoming a bit generic?

I really like the SfB cover, and, of course the oft mentioned IFtOS. Agree that the last few ones have been pretty uninteresting, though. It feels like they're sacrificing the detail and symbolism in favour of just making everything more massive and grandiose.

Brace yourselves. Here follows a mammoth post :P " Himmelsfursten " ("The Sky Lord") seems to be about Thor, the god of thunder and lightning in nordic mythology. The lyrics in english would be something like "A soaring white light across the skies Time of storms, time of autumn A loud sky-game is p...

Re: Anyone know of a band that plays stuff like The Bards So

Mh, not so sure there is such a band.... there are many folk metal bands without harsh or gruntled vocals, and some of them do acoustic pieces here and there, but not sure if there's a band that does *solely* that. On the other hand there are heavy folk metal bands that occasionally churn out an ac...

Anyone know of a band that plays stuff like The Bards Song?

Basically the title. I'm looking for some band or artist who plays acoustic folk with fantasy influences. It seems that all the bands I find when I google "fantasy lyrics" or something similar are some kind of metal. Not that there's anything wrong with that (I wouldn't be hanging around here if I d...

Have you read "Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell", by Susanna Clarke? I never got into it myself, but it seems kinda' like what you're looking for. A bit Gaimanesque.

Re: Best PC RPG games.

Planescape: Torment probably has the best writing ever seen in a computer game. That said, it is certainly not a game for everyone; the game is packed with text, to the point where it sometimes feel more like an interactive novel than a game. Awesome stuff, though. The Baldur's Gate series probably...

Re: BG epic quotes!

Shine on Embrace and deny me "Wheel of time" is one of their most polarizing songs, to me. Brilliant stuff like the above is followed by the pretty hammy "Weave on wheel of time". The song has many of my favourite Guardian quotes, and many of my least liked too. But, seeing as the topic is more gear...

Something based on the Baldur's Gate games would be awesome, since they seem to be sadly forgotten today, yet I recall André mentioning Shadows of Amn as one of his favourite games

I absolutely love Wheel of Time, it captured so much of the spirit from the books. This tour being the first time I will get to see Blind Guardian live, I'm pretty happy that they (most likely) won't just play the new album. Don't get me wrong, I love At The Edge of Time, but I love Imaginations, Nightfall, and the older ones too. Seeing as most of the audience probably won't have...

Is "The Script for my Requiem" a tribute to Marillion?

Anyone else noticed this? In 1983, Marillion released the album "Script for a Jester's Tear". Blind Guardian's song "The Script for my Requiem" contains the line "Jester's tears I cry"... Coincidence?
