Re: Symphony X working on a new album

I used to be a very devoted SX fan, and i listened heavily to all the albums. Paradise Lost is the best one thus far imo, because i think it's somehow less artificial and more musical than the others. But thats just an opinion, and tbh V The new mythology suite was my favorite album by them for a lo...

Re: There s a new TSO-album out

I've been listening to their album 'the lost christmas eve' lately. Not bad at all, as christmas music goes.

Re: Helloween's 25th anniversary album

This is good news. Glad to see Falling to Pieces in there, but most other song-choises are pretty boring. Hope the re-recording will make it worthwhile. Andi Deris doing these songs in the studio could be cool too.

And about Kiske joining up with Mat Sinner, that sounds like it could be pretty cool.

Re: Recommend me heavy, epic progressive metal with long songs

I agree with the person who said Green Carnation. Probably better than 90% of the prog metal out there. Redemption is a pretty good band aswell i think. They have their own style or sound while at the same time being derivative. Not so epic perhaps, but long songs nontheless, and pretty heavy. Other...

Re: New Savage Circus Album!

I don't know if I should be happy or sad about Thomen not being in the band anymore (In any case I think he should consider rejoining his old band. But things aren't that simple of course). About this album, I don't know if im that excited, even if i liked the first one. The new song didn't really g...

Re: So, let's see how many DragonForce haters we have here...

I think they're alright and i think they have a purpose of some kind. I mean, for me, their music is perfect to put on after a boring 2½ hour seminar at the uni. I figure SlipKnot would have about the same effect on me, or anything that just has a lot of energy and rawness, but power metal just work...

Re: Best Power Metal Male Vocalist.

At this point, for me it's (roughly): 1. Andi Deris (Truly unique voice, emotional and with energy - even has a lot of range) 2. Hansi Kürsch (In his prime he was the most powerful singer ever and still is very good) 3. Russell Allen (Technically superb, lots of ability, range and force) 4. Jorn Lan...

I've been listening to them from time to time. Symphony of Enchanted Lands 1 is an album i used to spin a lot. But i don't know, i think at the end of the day that while it's good for what it is, it's not great music. Like Orodaran or someone said it gets too bombastic and hollywooodish. I mean afte...

I've been listening a lot to Riverside lately, I didn't know anything about a new album, thats cool! By this point im confident that whatever this band creates will be good. They seem to have the perfect balance in their music, between aggressive and soft, dark and bright, while at the same time bei...

Virgin Steele

Ok a lot of people maybe do know them but i get the feeling a lot of times that they are underrated. I mean some of the best moments i've had listening to heavy/power metal are with this band.

I like them, a lot of their stuff is good, especially the older works. I think theres more interesting stuff out there though, they really aren't that original.

My respect to those who grieve over this, but this is great news for me. I didn't think Jorn fitted Masterplan very well, I always thought his voice was more fitted for rock. Now maybe i'll finally get a Masterplan album that i'll be able to enjoy.

The music makes me kind of joyful. Edenbridge - Shine ...Nothing like their early works but way better than Appheleon ...
