http://img909.imageshack.us/img909/3144/NFIYmr.jpg  That mock-up is WAY better than the official album art, sad that the band went with the same artist again, his stuff looks so overproduced and seems to overcompensate for a lack of artistic vision through photoshop filters and effects, essen...

Re: Which BG song has affected/affects you the most?

Skalds and Shadows is my go to song when i'm feeling depressed or down. The ending is especially terrific, and it's such an eloquently sung and intricately woven song in its rhyme and scheme, it's hard to not get sucked into it when you're in a bog, and it can work when you're happy or depressed, ma...

Re: Next news update will happen in

I'm guessing the Bard's must be fairly busy with their families.

But this is why I wish some bands should never spawn. Family is why Barlow isn't in a IE anymore, these bands need to understand that WE are their real family! :x

And Time Stands Still over Nightfall??? WHAT??? Those are fighting words! Haha, but you know you've arrived as a fan when you think you kn...

Re: favorite band?

BG still tops it, after all these years and several mental growth spurts, it's crazy how some of their songs that I used to listen to as a teenager take new meaning as an adult. They are truly masters of depth. Old Elvenking is still very special to me, but their new stuff leaves me feeling so utter...

Re: How did you know about Blind Guardian?

Around the year 2005, somebody posted the entire 'nightfall' song on an internet message board I was browsing, considering how I was only beginning to develop my musical taste, that guy really impacted me by bringing this band to my attention, I didn't think music like this existed, my teenage mind ...

Yea I do miss Kai's wail that led into the guitar interlude before the chorus... I have many a fond memory of nearly passing out trying to replicate that scream haha.

The re-recording is still fantastic though.

Re: @all Manowar haters

No matter how old I get, one thing that I love about Manowar is their camaraderie, I love the us vs the world attitude in metal, gives you a sense of belonging, I wonder if it was them that spearheaded that mood? Or maybe it was always there because of metal's inherent niche? Either way, they've per...

Maybe like a disney movie? "Out in the distance there's so much gold" and then an all-star group of dwarves busts into song and dance! Huh, actually...it can probably really work, considering Hansi's over-dubbing and the lyrics from first-person. "Over the mountain and seas, to the old hill where th...

Re: New Iced Earth album in the works

Hansi needs to forget about Demons & Wizards, Schaffer is pretty much done as a songwriter and is quite obvious for anyone that Jon "triplets" Schaffer lost the little talent he had. Hell no, Hansi's lyrics are precious, he could probably add awesome lyrics to the sound of babies clanging pots and ...

Just listened to anthem, I like the music but I feel like stu is trying to sound like barlow abit much, -NO ONE- can replace barlow. Schaeffer shouldn't have sought a replacement... but a voice. Although Stu does seem like the guy to go to if you're looking for a replacement, still... not trying to ...

Somewhat off-topic but I always confuse "Icy fields they won't hurt anymore" with "I see fields they wont turn anymore", which is kinda neat since it still fits the mood of the song! But as for the topic, I wonder whats the meaning behind "Will I ever stay where the shadows will grow"?. The characte...

I disagree. While he may have been important to the band's sound, he certainly wasn't the essence of it. You state that the songwriting was based around his voice, whereas the reality is that the songwriting is wrapped around Sam and Herman's guitarplaying. It's a situation largely comparable to th...

Re: Vocalist ZP Theart is out of Dragonforce

Either Dragonforce's new sound sucks or ZP just doesn't like that kind of music anymore. But damn, after 10 years hes gone, I very much doubt Dragonforce will find such a fitting vocalist, I mean after the years the songwriting is subtly wrapped around that guys voice. I fear Dragonforce will fall o...
